I hate Shitty QBs. but the reality is that the tough ones are really hard to come by. saying we are constantly rebuilding is also off base. we saw sustained playoff births under hirm, and AFCG under parcells, and 2 under rex. NOT rebuilding properly is what got us in this mess. Idzik is trying to d things right, and its fans with unrealistic win now expectations that are the only thing that is going to screw it up. you want to play vick, win 8 or 9 games, win 8 or 9 games next year, then when vick is hurt or retires and we need a qb we are in the same spot as now only 3 years later
Rebuilding is a total cliche nowadays. Team building is a constant process unless a previous GM has completely destroyed the team with bad money decisions and worse personnel decisions. Considering the Jets still have a core of excellent talent and were able to clean the cap up almost immediately after Tanny got canned, the Jets can't be categorized as rebuilding, IMO. Most times, rebuilding is an excuse that's used when there are holes at impact positions that keep a team from performing well with consistency.
if we wanted to "rebuild properly" we'd have the young qb who clearly isn't ready carrying a clipboard learning to be a pro while the vet gives the team the best chance to win. Kind of like we did with Vinnie and Chad. Instead we've got an air raid qb who is clearly in over his head, not ready, hurting the team and likely pissing off the veterans. But hey, according to fans who have been conditioned to accept mediocrity and shit qb play as "rebuilding" we're on the right track!
Last year our receivers were the worst in the league. This year we've added Amaro who so far looks like more of a blocker than a receiver and Decker who's mostly been hurt. And yet Geno is consistently moving the ball downfield. Eventually you have to take chances and throw up jumpballs in the red zone as field goals aren't good enough and his receivers can't get open.
so what you're saying is leave geno alone? lol at amaro looking like a blocker. throwing redzone INTs on first down is OK because everyone else on the team sucks! Geno is the bestest!!
If we win and he puts up an OKAY game, keep him. If we lose and he plays like Elway, keep him. If he plays like shit and we lose. Bench him.
Keep playing Geno, Vick is nothing but a stopgap at this point. Not having any healthy receivers has contributed to this mess. If Marty can finally figure out that CJ is not the man between the tackles that would help. Lastly lose the Wildcat.
Geno has shown enough promise that he should get the season -- The Jets are going nowhere no matter what. Is he the answer? Probably not-- but we know Vick isn't for sure. Let's see if he continue to progress, he still looks likes miles ahead of where he was this time last year. Our OC needs to learn to stop calling plays that break momentum, make better play calling decisions in the RZ and also help create a situation can lead our young QB to some success and not set him up to fail.
In theory, a team should never have to rebuild because they have been constantly building properly is a great observation. That wasn't the Jets, so in my opinion, yes they are rebuilding. They overachieved last year and that led to increased expectations in the fan base on this board that they were "ready", but it just isn't the case. As always you need a QB and if you don't have a QB you need to exceptional talent or play elsewhere to have a playoff/wilcard team. The Jets have their DL and that's about it. Work in progress/rebuild in my eyes. If you build wrong, you have to rebuild. That's where the Jets are at in my eyes
I say, Give Geno 3 year window. And I mean that. Geno should get 2 years AFTER this one. That means Jets are putting together 2 drafts. That's minimum 8 guys from top 4 rounds. Preferably, Jets should spend one 3rd rounder on QB - the earlier the better. [Hopefully in this coming spring.] With 4 impact picks [1/2] they should get: WR /LB x2/CB or RT With 3 picks in 3/4th round, they should get: CB or RT [whichever wasn't addressed earlier]/OG x2 If the newly minted QB has been riding the pine for more than a year, they should be ready to compete by then. Heaven forbids that new QB hits the field in his rookie season. He needs shielding - that's what Geno is for. It's the same argument I made for Sanchez - he should have been starting for the Jets even through this season. If Jets had drafted a good QB prospect last spring [which is likely] with Sanchez taking the beating on the field, then he would have been learning very well this season, primed to contend this coming season.
It was time to bench him at halftime. But clearly the whole organization's marching to the drum of Czar Idzik.
might be time now. for whatever reason geno can't protect the ball. lets sit him, see if we have lightening in a bottle, f not let him play out the string so we can move forward
Ivory should have caught that pass but was goin nowhere anyway! Geno being dumb as always has decker wide open! Even when geno's not turning it over, his missing open receivers. Rex is big dope!!! If he puts Vick in any of these last three games we win two or all three of them!!
