If competition means nothing why make it the team mantra? The extent in which competition helps has an inverse relationship how good a player is. The better you are the less it's needed. Sure, guys like Decker, Wilkerson and Mangold don't need it as much as other younger players on the roster but how many of those type of players we have on this team?
Im not even sure what that means? Should we not bring in undrafted players because we dont want our good players competing against them?
A guy with 2 posts makes a thread and doesnt post again. Definition of a troll thread. Idzik has been fine. The CB situation is rough, but this is only year 2 of rebuild. He's got at least 1 more year.
It's not about where your are drafted it's about if you are any good. The "depth" we have on this roster is not very good.
Exactly, Competition is everything. We had huge problems with depth 2 years ago and while its an issue at some positions I feel better about it now. With 12 picks to expect a lot of these low rounders to be anything by week 3 in their rookie seasons is just silly. Impact player rookies are very rare outside the top couple rounds and often enough in the top couple rounds.
Competition plays a role, but if a player strives to be great, they don't need grade A competition. A great player's greatest critic is himself.
I still have trust in the guy and I'll give him until the end of next year.... side note the Jags signed George and this draft for now looks like a total miss.
I am starting to have doubts about last years draft, although I know it is very early in the season. I have been watching two players drafted after us in areas we needed that are having great rookie season so far. WR Brandon Cooks and CB Kyle Fuller both look like future all pros and I would have preferred either one of them to Calvin Pryor. In the third round (2nd round pick Jace Amaro was great) the pick of Dexter McDougal was a big reach as Mel Kiper said "leave it to Rex Ryan to find a player nobody else wanted". McDougal may turn out to be a player but he could have been gotten with one of the three 4th round picks or even later. This is now two years in a row he has been injured and not played football. This is not a good sign. We needed a WR and there was Donte Moncrief sitting there for us to take. He had a great career at Mississippi and is doing well with the Colts. With all the picks the Jets had from 4th through 7th round does anybody see a diamond in the rough? OK. Everybody can blast me now.
As much as it felt sweet beating the fish and I'm glad we did... a loss would have gotten us into the top 12 and who knows he could have been a Jet
I don't think Fuller has the impact he does with the Jets compared to the Bears who run a zone primary defense. He plays just like Peanut Tillman to an extent, you can see him using the punch ball technique A LOT. Milliner going to mentor Fuller? LOL
Idzik has flopped on some players, but his big issue is lack of weapons for Geno and of course, the current CB situation. Now the Jets weren't going to have a great secondary without Milliner playing well, but he should have had a solid #2 to go beside him. Not Patterson.
Huh the guy wanted Fuller when he was drafted before our pick.... "Watching 2 players drafted after us"
