With an league-average starting quarterback and one average starting corner, this team could easily make the playoffs (and possibly win the division). That said, you are correct that Idzik couldn't care less about the team's success (or failure) this year - he's all-in for next year and that's why he saved $20 mil on the cap.

I like your father analogy--Rex constantly BRAGS up his team and his players which I think leads to a lack of discipline and knowledge of fundamentals. The players believe their "coach" is their best friend and end up dropping punts, calling timeout from the sidelines, melting down in the huddle, running up the ass of their teammates, celeebrating TDS BEFORE they reach the end zone, etc. I have never seen a coach have a team so mentally divorced from the fundamentals of NFL football.

You just don't get it, do you? Rex is not responsible for anything that happens to this team! (unless they win, of course). He says funny things, acts like a 50 year old frat boy, talks shit constantly, has no leadership ability, and lets his players run rampant! In a word, he's awesome! He also says funny things! (oh, I mentioned that already). Wins be damned! Anyone can win! He's FUNNY!

What did he do wrong yesterday? What I saw was a pretty good defensive game called. Rex didnt throw the interceptions or officiate the game poorly. He didnt even fuck up the time out situation last night.

I could be forgetting something, but what did Rex do last night that was so bad.

Who'd he throw to, you said he had no receivers? It's funny, when Geno actually hits his receivers, they make plays, when he throws a bad pass, the receivers suck.

Fire everyone!! They all suck!!! LMAO. Love these ignorant "sky is falling". The Jets could easily be 3-0 right now if not for a few bad referee calls.

If there is a reason to fire Rex, its simple. "Ground n pound". This is what my head coach has told me we are for two years now. And we are nowhere NEAR a ground n pound team even though that makes the most sense considering our roster. Soooooo, that might tell you that hes a complete buffoon with no say in what happens on game day. Is MM the coach? If not, why doesn't RR tell him that we are a ground n pound team? I would LOVE an explanation for this. But there isn't one. I jokingly said in the first page of yesterday's game thread that since the Bears suck against eh run, we'll throw it 55 times....wel, we threw it 43 times. It is absolutely comical the way this team is run.

Man TD...hmmm....I have gone where you went with this post several times but was lectured beyond belief by a few posters that say this style of coaching works. Now, you can point to that idiot Pete Carrol who acts the same way...but when you have that roster, you can act like that. I TOTALLY agree with your post.

I mean, you just cant act like your team is great in a press conference...or on the field until you have the roster or results that can back you up.

"But jaywaynedickhead, that's who Rex is..and what do you want him to do sulk? or we went to 2 afc championships with Rex being that way or blah"

How many times did the Blitz package work yesterday. How many times did Rex take off the sending of 8 guys and the team actually defended pretty well. I think Rex gets caught up with this genius defensive mind so much that he loses what the teams weaknesses are. That big 3rd and 8 when he sent everyone and left Allen one on one with Marshall I believe? and Cutler just threw a floating duck that he was able to catch...there was no need yesterday for all of the blitz packages.

Man, Mike Westhoff made a great point in the post game. He said the Bears were bringing in tackles and guards all game long as receiver eligibles. He said the Bears were only using 3 receiver sets..and bringing the tackles/guards to help out on Wilkerson and company..double teaming all of them. They knew if they can block the front line and when Rex...seeing that...still sent everyone except 3 or 4, if Cutler had time..he would succeed when needed.

Still, the defense played well enough to win. The ground and pound is now just a lie..its put out there for teams to think it will happen...but unlike the rest of the league and even the Bears last night, the Jets are the only team that will stop running the ball if it doesn't go well in the first quarter. If the Jets had just stuck with it..with the players the Bears had on the field, they would have dominated part of the 3rd and the 4th.

There is just...FOR THE 100TH TIME...no way to characterize who the Jets are...what their claim to fame is. 6 years and they are like the restaurant that says they have continental cuisine....another words...we have no f'in clue.

I agree BM but last night was the no run game for Geno. He has those games, He had several chances to go outside and run for some yardage.

There were several troubling signals from Geno last night. First is, for the first time he was actually calling out receivers even on the interception that was underthrown to Nelson. On one play when he threw a balloon to Cumberland, he started pointing to Cumberland to jump. Now, maybe he was right? Maybe..but he has never done that before.

Then, in the press conference after the game, he again for the first time, made every excuse in the world..including that his throw to Nelson in the end zone was made so that Nelson could fight for the ball. His elbow was hit on another pass...the faults were not about him but it was a team letdown.

Again..and a big again, this might be him taking players to task and calling them out..or it might be him finally admitting without saying it that as long as the team is asking him not to be a game controller but to win the games...he will continue to make bad plays because he is not there yet..or might not ever get there...its just that last night Geno acted 100 percent differently then he has in the past to poor performances.

Ranked 2nd in rushing. I agree this is not GnP though. Less shotgun please unless it's read option. We run, let's run!

Except the big difference is that Geno is not a rookie anymore, he's had a whole year experience and an offseason of working with all these guys. He should be able to make some plays. I was really disappointed that we couldn't exploit the middle of the bears secondary, it was guys that hadn't even played a snap before.

Brook I don't think those are good reasons to call for his head

    1. I don't think is such a big deal. Seahawks and a Ravens were some of the most heavily penalized teams year they won the SB. Of course want to see improvement with it, but I don't think it's a main reason to be so pissed off. We're losing games because the offense continues it's ineptitude, not because we have so many penalties

    2. He's the HC, not the GM. The GM is responsible for the personnel. Rex has had some of the worst QB play in the league as a HC during his tenure. It's actually somewhat amazing we haven't been much much worse. If we actually fielded him a middle of the pack QB, say a guy like Alex Smith, we would do some serious damage in this league. It really will be a shame if Rex's career as HC ends without us being able to supply him with a decent/startable QB.

Very good points you make. Not sure if it can be an answer to your post as well but here is what I wrote on another thread.

We threw the ball 43 times. 43 times. Rinsed me of the first Pat game last year. Inexplicable.
