If Geno continues to be up and down, will the organization have the balls to select Mariota or Winston if the fall to our pick? Are there any other QB's they would have the balls to take......
Neither will fall to our pick and I don't want Winston in any event. Mariota 1000%. If Hundley is there at our pick I'd take him. _
Personally, I don't really want Mariota...... He's another QB that's never played in a pro style system...... Just like Geno did a WVU...... If we make a QB move, I'd prefer a QB know for decision making, not his athletic ability......
The Jets will likely be drafting somewhere 14 or later. If they don't like the progress Geno made this season there's a real chance they see somebody available that they'd like to take. The Chargers drafted Philip Rivers in 2004 after spending a 2nd round pick on Drew Brees in 2001. Before you sputter something about Drew Brees and Geno Smith just remember that the reason the Chargers took Rivers is because they thought Brees had failed as their starting QB. It's very possible to take a 1st round QB and then have your 2nd round QB come through also, which would be a great place to be for the Jets.
There are so many good college QB's right now! If we have to draft another QB next year may be the best chance to land one in the middle of Round 1
Jets should only draft a QB in the first 2 rounds if Rex is out that door and a new HC is here to help develop that QB and institute a good offense. Otherwise it's waste of time and a waste of a pick.
None of them will fall to us , and some of you guys need to serisouly tone it down It's Geno's second season, and you guys want to rid of him already? Ridiculous.
God it hurts everytime I read that. Taking a QB out of a weak 2013 class cost us taking a QB out of a GREAT QB class in 2014. Teddy Bridgewater the starting QB of the Jets for the next 12 years? Or Derek Carr? _
I would have loved Bridgewater. We could have solidified other positions in 2013, then get the QB in 2014 and give him the keys. December 7th, Bridgewater vs Rex Ryan defense. Should be interesting how Bridgewater performs. IDK when the next good prospect is coming out in the next 2 to 3 yrs, I mean I guess there's Mariota (ORE), Sean Mannion (Oregon State) Kenny Hill, Christian Hackenberg (PSU), I want nothing to do with Jameis Winston he will set the franchise back 5 yrs easily. Connor Cook from MSU as well looks good as MSU seems to be developing QBs decently.
My point is that we shouldn't be calling for Geno's head after game 3 of his second season. If he does this for the next five, then I believe it will be time to take action and possibly start Vick, but it's week 3 and you've got posters already calling for Idzik's resignation, and the firing of Rex. It just makes no sense to me, why not wait and see how the season develops?
We'll see how GREAT the 2014 QB class is in three years. I remember these "experts" calling the 2011 and 09 great draft classes a few years ago. And today they're regarded as one of the weaker QB clssses in the last decade. Until I see Bridgewater, Carr, or Manziel become franchise QBS, I refuse to place the tag GREAT on the class.
I want him to continue starting to see if he can get through his bad decisions. I hope he does because it allows the window of opportunity to open much faster. I'm not calling for his head, but I mean I can't say I didn't tell some people on here that Geno has a VERY small chance to become our starter for the next 10 yrs. He fooled me at the end of last season, but I'm not falling for that shit again.
I'd be lying to you If I said I was completely sold on Geno. I'm not, but I want to give him some time before we consider inserting Vick. Because starting Vick signals the end of the Geno ERA. I'm just hoping his flashes become more of a regulaity. His celling doesn't even have to be a top ten QB, in my opinon, if he can be as good as a Flacco or a slightly better Eli we should be fine. Lets just cross our fingers and hope he's our "guy".
But the 2013 class is already proving to be even weaker than it was touted. Rule Number 1: Don't draft a QB is a shitty year. Rule Number 2: Draft a QB is a strong year. _
Don't forget Bortles, Garappolo, Mettenberger, Foles, McCarron, Thomas and Savage. There are going to be some players there. Go look at the crap that was 2013. _
It's definitely better than 2013 I'm not arguing that but we have to see these QB's play in 2014 before we label them great.
Yes and Belichek took Garrappolo....smart and athletic; but no we have Vick to "battle it out" with Geno lol.
Yes, I also thought this was an Offense made to order for Smith. Great backfield, Decker, Kerley, Sudfeld, Amaro etc WHAT MORE does he need?????? Hmmmmm I guess it's time to throw off balance and into my blind side or double coverage....ooooops that's a interception.............................err sorry bout that.
