It should be unquestionably uncatchable if that's the call they're going with. No gray area. This is debatable at worst.
I really dislike harping on the refs so I'm just going to move on I guess. I generally feel like you just need to take care of your own business, which the Jets clearly didn't last night, and let the chips fall where they may. This one leaves a really bad taste though.
Am I just a Jets fan or does it seem certain teams get calls and certain teams don't; on a consistent basis? It just seems like it's kind of one-sided at times. Whenever I see a flag now, I just immediately assume it's on the Jets.
There's no conspiracy, but there certainly is a bias to protect and serve the league's stars. All you have to look at is the way PI and RTP calls are made and it becomes painfully obvious. It's becoming a bit like the Jordan Rules.
Yes, we didn't cash in in the Red Zone, yes we turned the ball over, we played poorly, etc. We ALL know that! That does not negate the fact that we have been getting fucked by the refs week in and week out. Nobody is saying its the ONLY reason we lost. But it is getting out of hand.
this is an overreaction imo. we havent been fucked by the refs. we had a couple bad calls, which we compounded big time by screwing up ourselves royally afterwards. the oakland game was fine. if anything greenbay had worse officiating against them then we did. the bears got that PI call, it all evens out in the end
From the NFL Football Officiating Academy: "Don’t blow the whistle...See leather! When you can’t find the ball the last thing you want to do is blow your whistle. Be patient. What seems like an eternity is only a second longer. Find the ball in player possession when the runner goes down or is crossing the goal line before blowing on the whistle. Once the whistle blows, you’ve taken all opportunity for help from your crew away because you have an inadvertent whistle. When in doubt, go slow and don’t blow your whistle until you are sure of your ruling."
I'm honestly tired of the zebras deciding games for us. The Jets should be 3-0 right now. First the BS touchdown reversal in the Packers game and now a clear fumble called wrong on the field, costing the Jets another TD. Fix that fucking rule already. It was a clear fumble 6. Both TDs should have counted. Don't get me wrong, it's not JUST the refs, it's also terrible mistakes in the red zone, but it's really getting old to have to face good teams with bad refs. As soon as I saw Boger's crew I knew there would be several blown calls against us. It happens every time. We can overcome mistakes or we can overcome piss poor officiating, but we can't do both every week. Phantom holding calls and PI calls. Shit is ridiculous. Fuck the refs. They need to answer for their accountability.
People say "well yeah it was a bad call on the Cutler fumble but you still had the ball with great field position". What does that mean? Should it have been a TD or not? Or, even if you dont think he would have scored, should the Jets have had even better field position or not? Geno's play is what it is. It's a seperate issue. Yes he played bad and needs to convert when he takes the team into the red zone, but that doesn't excuse poor officiating. You can't correlate one to the other. This really annoys me. I'm listening to people say things like "the Jets didnt deserve those calls due to the way they played". What??? The play is the play. The offenses performance as a whole, as poor as it was, particularly in the red zone, doesn't excuse the refs to call the game the way it was called. The officiating was bad. Geno was bad. One doesnt make the other ok in either direction.
Yet if you criticize the refs you get fined. If this was soccer those refs would have been hanging from the goalpost after the game like a fu$kin' piñata !
Deserve to win has zero to do with the argument that despite playing like shit it was actually good enough to win if the refs didn't essentially give the bears a goal line TD opportunity and took a Td away from us. Save the emotional "deserve" rhetoric for those who are discussing that.
no, we should be 1-2. we deserve to be 1-2. the refs stole nothing from us. we have played poor in all 3 games and made losing plays in all 3 games.
it wasnt good enough to win. we lost by 8. give us that touchdown and we are still down 1. and who is to say the bears dont score anyway on the drive with PI call? they had the ball at midfield.
All things even except we are given the TD fumble and we are down 1 at the end of the game and well within FG range. The PI call becomes irrelevant in that hypothetical. It was good enough to win, the difference in winning and losing, as the game was, was the officiating. We get the fumble call we win the game, hypothetcally, despite playing terribly.
What the NFL should do but wont: 1- Review every game to determine how bad a team got screwed by the refs (The NFL already does this to evaluate & grade out each officiating crew) 2- Based on post-game reviews, award teams 'credits' for bad calls that hurt the team. More credits for bad calls that clearly cost games, etc. Come up with some formula. 3- Accrued credits translate into compensatory draft pics. The more a team got screwed throughout the season, the higher the comp pick, all the way to a first rounder in the extreme.
