Sure, the 3 FA's are top end guys. But unless these players are extended by their current teams, why is this so unreasonable?
This was to be expected. As I said Rex hasn't shown the ability to be a high quality HC at this level over the last 3 years. If this continues then Woody better clean house after this year and offer Kevin Sumlin a huge package. Enough of this band-aid nonsense. Rex is a high level DC, nothing more.
It's not far fetched at all. Idzik is clearly rolling over money for 2015. The team has slowly but surely improved the last 2 seasons.Drastically in fact. Yes further seasoning is needed from the young core & there are a few holes..but Idzik's actions suggest that he will attack the remaining holes next off season & will have hearty resources to accomplish that. Now it may or not be the high profile names many crave..but rest assured competent competition will be brought in to further improve depth.
Well, maybe that's us, maybe not. I'm not saying he'll have a hard on for Rex's defense, I'm just replying to a post saying he would never sign with us to play in our D, which seems stupid to me.
The fact that we need more offensive talent and secondary talent. Not to mention we need an offensive minded head coach. Tonight's play calling left a lot to be desired. The defense wasn't great either.
No one thought we were a top tier team going into this year, at least I certainly didn't. It's not always about this year. And the defense overall was pretty good. Marshall and Jeffrey put up 100 yards each on a lot of teams.
Of course it's about this year when you just went 8-8 (albeit a lucky 8-8 with the largest point differential in NFl History) and have 12 draft picks and 50 mil in cap space. Who in their right mind keeps looking forward to the next year? The time is now. Why not us?
You just said it yourself, we were not a good or talented team in 2013. We got lucky, and Rex held the locker room together and never gave up. It takes time to establish talent throughout a roster. I'm sure people are tired of the Seahawks comparison, but they are an apt comparison because they also started at the bottom of the barrel in terms of overall roster talent. John Schneider took over as GM in 2010. They put out a lucky 7-9 win season in his first year in a piss-poor division, and miraculously made the playoffs and won 1 game. They went 7-9 again in 2011, but missed the playoffs. in 2012, they were helped out by outstanding rookie QB play, but even that year they didn't win too many games because of Wilson, but because they had patiently assembled a deep roster full of mostly inexpensive talent, and ended that year with a 11-5 record and getting knocked out of the divisional round. 4 years in, in 2013 they had the best roster in the league and won a SB. Don't be unreasonable and expect to go from terrible to good in 1 offseason. The 8-8 last year was a tesitmate to ouur coaching staff, not our roster.
It hasn't been our year since 1968, next year isn't going to make our incompetent QB develope a brain
We just went a "lucky" 8-8, but we shoulda went 4-12...and the time to win is now...with our roster....? wtf are u smoking? I can name 5 other teams whose time to win is now...were not one of em.
^ yep. Also, I agree that people shouldn't be unreasonable. Also, for some reason I like message boards.
Shu could play NT/DT for any team in this league and wreak havoc. 3-4, 4-3...dont matter. To say he would never play for us when we could throw the bank at him is absurd. Shu and Macklin coming here is not far fetched at all. Macklin, Decker, Kerley? a big second rounder? looks legit to me. Money talks. And we would still have funds left over to make moves...
People screaming about Idzik need to lighten up. No GM is going out after two years. Or three years. I say Idzik gets at least 5 years no matter what Manish Mehta thinks.
Geno is driving this team off the bridge, I think the progression of this team could take a step back instead of a step forward.
This is the reaction I expected after reading the hyperinflated expectations people had of this team for 2014. Now that those lofty ambitions are coming back down to earth, the disappointment and disillusionment are starting to come to the surface. This was never about 2014 except in the opinions of those who saw 8-8 as the floor instead of the middle. Now? they need somebody, ANYBODY to blame. The fault lies not in our stars....
