Tons of points were left out on the field tonight by the Jets. Not just the ones that the refs screwed us out of. Better QB play and better play calling could've made the difference tonight by itself.

I also saw a lot of holds by the Chicago offensive line. And while I was counting, saw twice as many by our own line.

I'm not saying the officiating was fair.

I'm saying that it would not have been an issue if we hadn't turned the tide on ourselves early.

it isn't like there were two awful calls but we lost by 4 scores, so the two shitty calls were irrelevant. there were two shitty calls that cost us 7 points and gave the Bears another 7 points -- 14 points, and we only lost by 8. that's the officiating blowing the game.

you can win games while making mistakes and playing poorly, so it isn't as if doing so means you don't deserve to win. you deserve to win and lose by your own play, not the referees incompetence. the refs cost the Jets this game.

They had to do more than one good thing to get 19 points, so try again.

Funny thing is, we get that TD, we win, and this board would be signing a whole different tune, from "Fire Rex, Geno Sucks!" To "Clutch Comeback, Great Defense!" The Jets made mistakes, every team makes mistakes, let's stop acting like Geno is the only QB with turnovers in the league, or the Jets are the only team with dropped passes, or special teams blunders, but we finally make some big plays I'm sick of them getting screwed over from dumb refs. Any other fan base would be furious, but we Jets fans are comfortable with acting like we're the only team who shoots themselves in the foot.

But they did have other opportunities. Despite the bad calls we still had a chance to win.

Im not saying saying fire Rex or bench Geno or anything even close to that. I dont get too low after a loss or too high after a win. Never have, never will. Most fans do but not me.

But I'll def point out areas where I think we need improvement and what cost us the game. Even if that play was called correctly and the Jets go into halftime 20-17 it doesnt guarantee a win. And it also isnt even guaranteed that Cutler doesnt go down and score before halftime. Took em only 2 mins to score once the 3rd quarter started.

We do need to improve in plenty of areas, I just don't agree with people shrugging off the poor officiating saying we suck anyways and didn't deserve to win, yet if the play was called correctly, we would have won, so clearly we did deserve to win, even with said flaws.

Edit: You are right though, the game may have changed had the play gone through, perhaps the Bears would have changed up their game plan being down coming into the 3rd? Who knows, would be nice if the officials called the game right and let us find out though, so if we lose, we know we 100% deserved to lose.

and yet if we get the TD off the fumble we still likely win the game despite the shitty QB play if everything else stays even. obviously the shitty QB play hurt us in conjunction with the bad officiating, but we still could have won with shitty QB play with good officiating. that makes the officiating the difference.

There's no doubt the Bears game plan would've changed. They played like a team in control the entire game, because they were. If they went into the locker room trailing they would've def been more aggressive in the 2nd half.

But even still they had some very big 3rd down plays which broke the Jets backs. IDK how you felt but at no time in the game did I think we were going to win.

We dont likely win the game if we go into halftime with the lead.

Playing with the butterfly effect here, bottom line is we will never know.

What we do know though is we are being credited for a loss, and that will be that I guess, was just annoyed with how easily people were shrugging off the bad officiating like it was no big deal at all, like we lost 45-3 or something. Anyways, time to focus on the Lions.

  13. I can't agree w/ this.

To start Chicago is dead last against the run & has been a 4-3 zone base team for over a decade now.Do they occassionally throw in a blitz from the secondary?Yes.But by all accounts this is schematically a conservative defensive team. They get to their spots in their zone looks, tackle & capitalize on the opposition's mistakes. They weren't suddenly gonna unleash the 46 D if the Jets took the lead.

As for them being in control...well they certainly didn't win the battle up front on either side of the ball. The trenches are always the tide of the game. The Jets lost this game at the skills position...poor decision making & lack of production on the outside specifically in the red zone.

Even though we technically only lost by 1 possession I dont think we played well at all. If we played a very good game on both sides of the ball and lost by 3 or 7 points and that play was called like it was called Id be much more pissed about it.

Games like tonight though I think you could've given the Jets that return for a TD and they still would've lost.

The problem is with the PI call is it was a bad call and nothing we could have down about it. The issue with the fumble is it was the correct call because the dope ref blew the whistle thus marking the play dead. It's a shit rule but the correct call. The problem I have is that the rule needs to be changed. Refs should not have the ability to blow a live play dead when the ball pops out. That kills the play, ultimately it was a fumble and the review confirmed that but the dumb ref ruled Cutler down and the fumble after Cutler was down. When the NFL changed this all turnovers are under review automatically they should have also added that officials are not to blow a play dead when the ball hits the ground for instances just like this. If the ref doesn't blow his whistle the play is reviewed anyway so I still don't know why these idiots are given the ability blow a play dead on a possible turnover. Let the play finish and then let the teams challenge it or in this case review it because it's a scoring play/turnover. The whistle came after the ball was out and in Davis's hands. The ref at that point in time should not have the ability to blow the play dead because of the possibility that it is in fact a fumble which ultimately would have been reviewed any way or challenged by Rex if the refs ruled no turnover.

Oh, give me a break. You really believe and see that we lost because of the referees? Wake up, and get real. Smell the roses...
Yeah, the PI call was absolutely horrendous, but we didn't lose because of the refs. The Cutler fumble was a fumble and should have been a TD, yes. But the ref blew the play dead, but it's the right call.. We lost because our dopey, idiot of a QB threw and pick 6 2 plays into the game and then one in the red zone, and our rookie WR/Punt returner muffed a punt. Oh, and because Marty is stupid. Oh, did I mention that our Defense got torn apart?

    It's fucking frustrating.

Took me days to get over the timeout call but this one doesn't eat at me. We should have gotten it in the
    red zone at least once.

You did mention that! . . . but the defense really didn't get torn apart.

Yeah your right the refs taking point off the board from Jets doesn't matter at all.
