he could have Jerry Rice, Randy Moss and Megatron out there. Wouldnt stop him forcing throws, losing 10 plus yards on sacks and being a block head

Any Jet fan suggesting Geno should get benched, really aren't giving the guy a chance.

No, 19 games starting isn't enough of a chance.

Throw what season away? we are a bottom 10 team regardless of who is at Quarterback. outside of defensive line we are average or worse at every level on both sides of the ball.

I'm not gonna call what Smith will be, its such a wide range of possibilities, But if we ever want to figure who should start next year we need him to start till the point of consistent quality or ineptitude.

this is his first bad outing this year, if this continues then its time for a Vick vignette. but after this game? benching him makes no sense, from any logical perspective. This is just typical shortsighted mush from angry armchair gm's.

I want to like Geno. he has the physical ability to be elite and isn't afraid to stand in the pocket and make throws. but it is becoming clear that lack of experience isn't the reason he will always make a mistake in a game. he just has the same QB defective chromosome that has kept many a QB, from Romo to Vinny, from being as great as you think they should be.

If that's to me, I am not. I see that 1 guy isn't single handedly destroying the team and I don't let my frustration with the QB position for almost a decade get in the way of better judgement and what I am seeing. I am seeing inconsistent and mediocre playcalling that doesn't utilize the guys to their best ability and I question some guys getting more snaps over other guys on this team(Johnson for Powell, Nelson for Salas)

Give Geno another game. If Jets lose vs. Lions...they are in deep panic win now mode and should start Vick. For now...it was sort of expected they would be 1-2 in the first 3 weeks

You guys are jumping the gun here. The question to ask is if Geno is better than last year and the answer is yes. The guy came out raw as hell and should have been stuck behind somebody for 2-3 seasons. Instead like the dumb asses the Jets have decided that he should be in a QB competition with Sanchez. Hot Dog should have been the starter last year and if the QB competition was with anybody it should have been the guy starting for the Cards right now. That aside I want to say that there is a guy who was a hot trash QB with talent who didn't start full time until he was 30 and ended up in the HOF. I'm not saying Geno is anything like that guy but let's put the blame where it needs to be right now and that's the coaching staff.

They could have won the last two games. Geno is inept in the red zone. Interception in the end zone, fumbles at the 1, settling for FG after FG....bad plays, bad decisions, bad awareness...... the team has an elite run stuffing team...can step up against the pass -- not great but not the worst. The running game is solid, offensive line solid, QB play is keeping this team from winning.

I think our future lies with the younger QB, who has shown some improvement in this season from last. But if they do bring Vick in to start, at least that will eliminate from the playbook those stupid fucking momentum killing plays where the backup QB is brought in to run or throw the ball poorly.

Because you get better with repitition, not by holding a clipboard. there is no substitution for live game action. he isnt going to learn from his mistakes if he isnt on the field to make mistakes.
I agree he is the #1 reason we lost the game. i disagree that we wouldnt continue losing games with another QB. for me, this season was meaningless from a W-L standpoint to begin with. we are a rebuilding team, player development is more important then record at this stage. especially when we are stilla 6-10 type team with vick starting and playing well.
Are you serious? a second year player, on his second co-ordinator in 2 years isnt allowed to make mistakes? what a joke.

You can force throws with those guys as at least they are smart enough to prevent the defender from catching the ball. I have nothing on the sacks though.

Has he improved? He can dink and dunk better....but his deep ball is non-existent still, his decision making is still garbage, his awareness is still poor, his pocket skills are weak -- i see a guy that is an illusion of improvement but he isn't much better.

Not much will be different, Marty will do the same stuff he did with Vick that will frustrate the fans, specifically in the red zone. Maybe Vick runs it a bit more rather than try a 20+ yard throw but that's about it.

I see a guy repeatedly making foolish, costly decisions. I see no reason to continue to play that player when we have a viable alternative on the bench. only an apologist would ignore those foolish decisions and insist that we need to keep the error prone player in the game.

I root for the jets to win over everything else of course. it seems some are rooting for geno smith despite his very obvious hindrance on the team.

I don't think Vick is the answer. Give Geno more time, it's still early if the turnovers continue he might force our hand.

Seems like no matter who our QB is with the exception of maybe Pennington, it's the same story, turnover after turnover.
