Look, I get it, our secondary blows, but I don't think this board is giving enough props to this defense. We are ranked first in the league after three weeks. We are ranked first against the run also. It really is amazing to think we are ranked so high with one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Gotta respect Rex Ryan for this one.
I care. This is a defense that is building to become something great. That does wonders for the future of this franchise.
They get few turnovers, no key plays, few sacks, no key stops- We lost and the defense gave up plenty to lose That's it, that's all
Our secondary didn't even look bad tonight, 250 yards is regular against a guy like Cutler, and Allen makes nice open field tackles.
That is not it and that is not all. The defense was playing catch up all game because the offense couldn't put a drive together. Three and out galore, pick six, red zone interception, etc. Yet still, the defense held Chicago to barely anything on offense. 14 of their points came off of turnovers, one of which was a pick six, the other a bullshit PI call to put them on the five yard line.
I think people expect to much from this defense, like they are suppose to have shut outs everyweek or something.Every time they give up 7 they are the worst defense ever
Probably beating a dead horse, but we're one CB away from being a phenomenal defense (with a healthy Milliner). If we get another solid CB, we could let AA play a hybrid SS/Rover role, which is where he excels (since you know, it's his natural position). Our entire d-line, the majority of our LB corps, and our safeties are all set for really the next 3-4 years at least. We have a really great core to build from. All we need is a CB to become truly elite.
They gave up plenty of plays Subtract 7 from the score and all the rest was them Not saying they lost the game, but they didn't do enough especially considering the top 5 bullshit
That's one of the reasons this offseason was so frustrating. The D is so close to being truly dominant; just a couple more pieces. That said; this is still a great group.
They also should have gotten us 7, what defense doesn't give up plays though? Even in '09/'10 when were a top defense we still gave up some plays.
In a properly referred game, they would've given up 13 points and gained a total of 7, for a net change of 6. That's pretty fucking good.
