Are you even aware of the Jets situation? Rex Ryan is not "coaching for his life". His job isn't even in jeopardy this season. The Jets front office isn't interested in winning this season as we can tell from their lack of effort in acquiring good players. They aren't going to fire the best coach we've had in multiple decades during a rebuilding year when there isn't anyone to replace him with. We don't have the potential to be a playoff team. We have one and a half decent receivers (Kerley is good, but he's not THAT good). Our TEs are pretty hit and miss. Our o-line is short two guards and a left tackle who can play decently. Our CB situation is screwed due to injury. Geno has had two good games and one bad game (In which we nearly came back anyway and in all likelihood would have won had the refs not stolen 7 points from us again.)
Kerley is not THAT good? Give me a break. Kerley is an excellent slot receiver, and that showed big time tonight. And yes Rex is coaching for his life. I don't give a shit what people may think, but he is. Look, I love Rex to death. I don't ever want to see him gone, but to think he stays if we completely shit the bed this season and miss out on a 4th playoffs, you're crazy. And don't sit here and tell me this franchise knows they aren't gonna make the playoffs. They absolutely expect to make the playoffs. I like Geno. I really do. But this decision making is really making me mad. I get it, he's in his second year, but this is a win now league. He's gotta shit or get off the pot.
Is it time to bench Brian Winters for Oday Aboushi? Because Suh and Fairley are going to murder the poor kid in 6 days.
What exactly has Simms ever done to consider starting him? Even his own father thinks Geno is better. And Vick is not going to be any better
He's above average, but that's it. Sure he's done well for us this year, but there were times in the past couple years where he just disappeared completely during entire games. It happens far too often when we actually need him for him to be "excellent".
No way. Paea had him all game long, with the bat down on 3rd down, with the inside move for the easy sack and on the 1st Geno sack where he didn't carry through on the play. Winters had a dud of a game on pass protection. Stephen Paea had him today.
Yeah but that's not on Kerley. He is not a number one receiver. He doesn't have that talent. He disappeared because who the hell did we have next to him that commands the defense? No one lol Kerley thrives as a slot receiver. He is an excellent slot receiver. When you expect him to be THE guy, he will fail. That's not his position.
So then we both agree that the person who is responsible for acquiring talent is doing a shit-tier job.
Hard to say. Idzik did an excellent job last year. Brought in Ivory, who has been awesome, drafted Richardson, who is awesome, and did a great job keeping guys we needed while cutting the slack. He also did a great job drafting Pryor, in my opinion, and bringing in a guy like Decker. I think he missed big time overlooking the secondary, and I think he could have drafted a guy like Benjamin to help at receiver. Hard to gauge him when he's been doing this two years. But right now, it doesn't look very good.
This year's draft class looks super weak for us. Partly due to injury, partly due to picking crappy players. But with all that space we had this year, we could have gotten at least one good veteran receiver and still had a fair amount of cap room leftover.
Bench Geno if this is not a rebuilding year- let Vic try and win some games If this is rebuilding go Geno, and get us good pick
That I agree with. I think he royally fucked up with receiver and corner. Something that I can guarantee you he will fix next offseason.
