I think Rex is a nice guy and popular with his players but l think he lacks finer points of head coaching. Parcells said some coaches can build teams others cant. Rex relies on our scouting department and GM for players. He does the best to his ability.
To play for Rex, you have to be that 12th guy who will run through a wall and/or onto the field during a big play.
There aren't many coaches I would want over Rex. - Bill Belichick - Chip Kelly - Jim / John Harbaugh - Sean Payton - Pete Carroll That's really it IMO - we've been competitive with Rex Ryan as our HC. However, if Jim Harbaugh decided to leave the 49ers ...
That's what passed thru my mind while watching NFL Network this morning. His contract isn't renewed and if somehow Jets don't make the playoffs, Jets might target him big time. He would love the spotlights of NY and our defensive front 7 is pretty decent. So he might consider coming here.
Pretty much agree. And from the college ranks I'd want Kevin Sumlin or David Shaw in a heartbeat. Sumlin is a QB and offensive guru and a top notch HC.
Yeah, not going to lie - I've been keeping my eye on that situation. Jim Harbaugh is one crazy fuck though.
How many nfl coaches have players that are willing to run through a brick wall for them when they're in the mood and feeling up to the task that day? Probably not more than 25 or so.
Game of football are won in ranks and files. In that regard, Ryan hasn't been exactly doing well. I'm willing to see how he improves, as he is indeed one of the better HCs Jets had in recent history. But he is not doing too well, and I am getting fed up with some of the aspects of his general philosophy - stupid trick plays, slow LBs that can't cover jack shit, etc.
I think he's more likely to end up with the Giants then with anyone else next year. No way he comes to the afc with his brother here. Harbaugh bowl 2.0. Call me crazy but i think this is TC's last season...it's time.
When you compare the Jets to teams like the Pats who seem to be around the POs every year we look like shit....but the NFL is a tough gig and when you add teams like the Toronto Bills who haven't even SNIFFED the POs in over a DECADE I think we're in the middle of the pack and on the rise. Any team without a franchise QB (26 teams?) must be strong in SO many areas to compensate....Pass Defense, Run Defense, Running Game, O-Line, Special Teams, Coaching, Drafting, etc. Seattle won the last SB with drafting, coaching, a suffocating pass defense, very solid front 7, a running game that couldn't be stopped, a QB who didn't make mistakes, and a fan base that ROCKS OUT WITH THEIR COCK'S OUT. Sans a Franchise QB, we have a ways to go.
they went a lucky 8 and 8 last year........I thought he should have been gone when we started this rebuild
its always luck when the jets win. i haven't seen the need to fire a coach that posts 1 losing record and has never had a good qb. thats just me though
I personally think Rex did a good coaching job last year.........I just believe a real rebuild starts from the top down with new GM and coach.......As long as rex is hc our offense will always be second to the defense
