What don't we wait a few more games here? After only 2 games - one against a legitimate playoff superbowl contender?

This is really too funny to make up....

The problem is that continuity usually pans out in the NFL if given time. There are some cases like Marvin Lewis where the team has 8/11 .500 or better seasons but can't win a playoff game.

Look at the perennial losing franchises in the NFL over the past 15 years and notice how many head coaches they've had in the process. Switching coaching regimes every 2 or 3 years doesn't work especially if you do not have a franchise quarterback in place.

Rex's defensive prowess has won us a lot of games it shouldn't have and specifically last year we won 8 games and were in the playoff hunt until the last couple weeks with a rookie quarterback and a depleted roster. These aren't guys you let walk away.

In the spirit of a prior poster, I'll vote for "doing good, but I have concerns", which should be slotted in between "great" and "OK". With that in mind, I agree with Cman55 on most of his points except that I haven't yet decided Rex is background noise.

I'm not asking the guy to be Bill Belichick, but I would prefer that bluster be balanced with wins. Wins mean that I can still enjoy additional episodes of the Rex Show. I don't have a Rex Ryan bobblehead on my desk for nothing---after all, it was he that brought me to the Jets.

I still believe in Rex albeit with tempered expectations because Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are still out there while the Jets have two guys I don't really regard as first-rate quarterbacks. I'm sure there are guys out there who can make excellent cases for Smith and Vick, but I'm not one of them.

If this team misses the playoffs this year, Rex is gone. You cant keep bringing a coach back after 4 consecutive non playoff years.

If that all that pans out Idzik should be fired.

You can if the Owner sez so... Woody loves Rexy so the record this season really doesn't matter. Rex is almost guaranteed a mulligan no matter what happens this year. Or next....

Especially if we finish with the worst passing defense in the league,Idzik will be more at fault anyway

How far has Rex come? Well the defense has steadily declined and he still doesn't give a fuck about the offense. At least he doesn't run his mouth as much as he used to.

There will be excuses I can see them now. This team wasn't "expected" to make the playoffs. Idzik never got him a CB. Geno Smith isn't the guy... etc. etc.

As long as Woody's the owner Rex will have some sort of protection. Now if Woody really wants to alienate a large portion of his fanbase (which he clearly doesn't seem to mind doing)then he'll bring Rex back even if his team and his coaching show no marked signs of improvement.

If this was an objective analysis of Rex and the Jets miss the playoffs again this year, then he should be gone no question asked. Yet this isn't an objective analysis as long as Woody is in charge.

I cant even understand why idzik is even being brought up. I keep seeing his name and im like wtf has he done so bad in a damn year? If I asked 95% of the people on this board who'd they rather the GM be that would be doing a better job right now they wouldn't be able to name one. Finally got people in the organization that know how to win and have a legit plan but yet i keep seeing are people feeling sorry for our team. were in a good place and u guys cant even see it. Raider fans deserve to win before our fanbase does...all the negativity has to stop.

Reread your post...then look up at that poll. your making absolutely no sense at all. You do realise that the fans are the one voting up there right? it would seem more the 60% of the fans on this board think he's doing a decent job. Ailenate what portion of the fanbase? put percentage on it. last year we went 8-8 with the worst offense in football when this team should have won no more then 5 games...Rex pulled games out of his ass, now if he doesnt make the playoffs hes gone? Have you seen our fukking schedual? Lol...not smart at all...u people are delusional...

Judging from your post count and your post above, that tells me all I need to know about how CLUELESS you are.

You wrote that the Jets finally have people in the organization who know how to win? So tell me the names of these people who know how to win you dumbass. Idzik hasn't won shit as a GM, Rex has coached the team to 3 straight losing seasons. You act as if the Jets coaches and FO have this long track record of winning with the Jets. That is factually untrue.

If you're gonna start posting on here at least have the faintest clue about the team and the current state of it. You're living in a fantasy land. Oh and 95% of the people couldn't name a better GM? Are you basing this off of Idzik's inability to address the glaring need at CB this offseason? Or his questionable draft picks in the middle rounds? Stop acting like you have a clue when you clearly don't.

You think 74 votes is an accurate sample of the Jets fan base? The slight majority of yahoos on this board probably love Rex but I think it's more half and half overall...

Plus the season isn't over yet. In the scenario he laid out the Jets would be on the outside looking in - no matter how that happens there are going to be more and more people wanting him out.

Somebody let me know how many post you need too have at TGG forums before your granted a boost in football knowledge? please lol. That argument alone lets me know how clueless you are. Soo because idzik didnt go overpay some scrub corner to be a bandaid in a shit FA season he's doing a bad job...ok. like I sad, name GM that would have came here and did a better job. Hell, name a FA HC that gonna just waltz in and make us a 100% surefire playoff team with this roster. you cant, because there are none. like I said, some of you dont deserve a winner.

So we can't be negative about Rex and Idzik unless we have the name and resume of someone who is certain to hypothetically do a better job... otherwise we don't deserve a winner? holy hell.

Nobody has any idea who would be better or worse in their roles but my guess is there are probably people who could also miss the playoffs here as well. Maybe you should consider an argument where you support Rex and Idzik with tangible analysis instead of challenging people to have a crystal ball, because there is no argument to be had there. Evaluate the people for the jobs they are doing.
