He also turned left twice between the 45 and 40 then right at the 35. He could have gotten to the 29 if he didn't take the scenic route. That miss was not on Smith.

The throw is on Smith regardless of the fact that it wasn't really a bad throw
That's a SportsCenter top reception if it's caught but just because he doesn't make the catch doesn't mean Decker was in the wrong. It's not like he gave up on the play, he dove with full extension and closed his hands at the wrong time. It also doesn't mean Geno threw a horrible ball but a slight overthrow that needed a spectacular catch to make it work.

We need to hit on some of these plays to loosen the defense up or they're going to sit on the WR screens and sits all day and we're going to start seeing pick 6's again.

Geno has played extremely well this year but that was on Geno not Decker. He clearly overthrew him. We've hear about his elite accuracy and his long ball accuracy but if that's all true, that's a ball he has to hit him in stride. Not stretch out, not dive, not a highlight catch. Drop it in and let him run to pay dirt. He overthrew him.

    It happens.

    I'm sure they're both a fault a bit.

Decker didnt take the most direct path to the ball.

If Geno didnt overthrow, Decker probably could have caught it anyway.

They look like they're gelling though. Geno is pretty good at finding Decker, and Decker is pretty good at getting open.

I agree but I still don't think it was completely uncatchable. It just would've been a spectacular play.

Of course. But if he misses he seems to be missing long and I'm not sure why.

It could still be an adjustment to the new receivers. He's 2 years removed from WVU but he had no consistency last year at the wide receiver spot and the consistency at West Virginia was blazing fast runners.

It's also better to overthrow than under throw for sure.

There are some things we point out at that Geno does wrong, but he does do some things right. The man can stay in the pocket and deliver a strike down the field. Not many QBs in today's league can do this, and he's a tough QB - so I will give credit where credit is due.

It's a four quarter game and Geno was great for a period of time but then he was mediocre. He's said he's unhappy with the L and he should be. Have to have better leadership and performmance from him if this team is going to improve.

Geno's biggest weakness is his long ball. 0-25 he's pretty good, eecially the really short stuff. But the real deep balls he rarely hits.

O know there is a stat saying he's accurate on long throws, but his his bad passes turn a td into 25 yard catch.

He did not play well for most of the game. The first three drives were good, but drives 4-12 he was 8-22 for 70 yards. That's unacceptable.

I was impressed with Geno in the Packers game, primarily from the comparative standpoint of what he was last season. I think he his arm talent ranges from good to very good.

I think he has good escapability: The last FG we had to tie the game up at 24 proves that. There was a play where he escaped a sack and pushed a flip pass to Bilal Powell for about 20 yards. Also the pass to Decker that he overthrew was another play where he escaped a sack.

I think the biggest problem Geno has is that he only looks to/trusts Decker and Kerley as receiving options. David Nelson didn't get a SNIFF until he caught that 4th down conversion after the timeout erased the Kerley Touchdown. The tight ends are not really being used as receivers for the most part unless they are check down options. Hopefully Jace Amaro can get in there and make a positive difference for us.

What's being overlooked is that either the Packers aren't as good as everyone thinks they are -or- we aren't as bad as everyone thinks we are. Which one do you think it is?

I watched two backup QBs play play excellently today and one threw for 400 yards. Both have about three starts between them. Geno should know this offense well enough to keep the ball moving. If he's just mediocre now or isn't pulling his weight, then Idzik wasted a pick.

Did those two backup QBs have actual NFL WRs to throw to?
