This thread has been done before, but I can't seem to find one with a poll. (Mods - If there is one that I have missed, feel free to close this and just link me to it). I'm kind of in an EMO mood and I'm really curious to see which game comes out on top. So, what the hell . . .

Still the 99 (98 Jets) title game loss in Denver for me. That team was magical and would have absolutely beaten Atlanta in the Superbowl. That AFC championship game, for all intents and purposes, was the Superbowl.

2010-11. If they ever tackled Ben, they would have gotten the ball game and I'm confident Sanchez takes it down the field for the win. Green Bay was a team possessed that January, but I would have liked their chances since they already gave up just nine on Halloween that season, and lost because of two bullshit calls on both interceptions Sanchez threw

It was a toss up between 98 and 86 but I go with 98 because unlike 82 or 86 we would have won the SB that year. I don't know if we go to Mile High in 86 and beat Elway and the Broncos and beating the Giants in the SB would have been really hard. 82 we probably don't beat the Redskins in the SB but we probably had a better shot than in 86. 98 was brutal because we had that game and looked like for a half we were going to the SB.

Yep . . . AND Joe Namath was on at halftime on the CBS broadcast! It truly felt like it was meant to be . . . and then Ed Mcaffrey happened.

They were all brutal losses but, I voted for the Pittsburgh debacle in 2011 because it's the freshest wound. I will never understand why they gave the ball to L.T. late in the game to run it in on the goal line. Tomlinson was a superb, finesse rusher but, they needed a power back like Greene to steam roll though the pile and cross the goal line.

The play-calling was terrible there, but even after that, the safety gave them the boost they needed to come down the field again and get within 5. They had two sets of downs to stop Big Ben . . . and the defense couldn't get it done. crushing.

Also, the 2004 divisional loss to Pitt (Doug Brien game) was particularly brutal. That one would probably crack my top 3.

I feel your pain. Btw, Herm/Hackett deserve a ton of blame for that one as well.

I just realized that I meant to include the 1969 AFC Divisional loss to the Chiefs, but failed to. I don't think that one would have gotten a lot of votes anyway (fewer number of fans able to actually remember it), but out of deference to the older fans and for the sake of completeness, it should be there, nonetheless.

Also, I purposefully left off both relatively one-sided playoff losses to Oakland (01/02) and the loss to Houston in 91/92 (8-8 Jets team).

I don't know either, to be honest. I've never seen the game. But it was a one score game, and my dad has told me many times that it really bummed him out because it was in Shea stadium.
