I am very confident in the fact that a majority of people did not expect the Jets would win. The Packers simply had a better, more experienced team. That being said, I think it is the fact that the Jets TEASED us with what they COULD be, if all their young pieces clicked, and the fact that everything DID click for us for a quarter. Today the Jets showed that they can DOMINATE anybody when they are playing at their best. They also showed that they will continue to have the growing pains of a young team on the road. When the Jets were up 21-3, I posted this: This was a young team on the road that exceeded all expectations for a quarter, victory was not expected by most, but most of us got teased by the immense potential that they showed. I think if the Jets just didn't show up and lost 28-0 there would be less calling for heads than if we lost the way we did. To be SO CLOSE and to have it slip away is so much painful than not ever having a shot at the game. This game showed that the potential is there. The arrow is pointing up. Next season we will have OVER 50 MILLION in cap space during a very deep FA class. I got teased myself. This team will be something special in the future.
The game also showed that our secondary is in for a world of trouble if we don't figure it out .We thought Nelson killed us it doesn't get any easier the next month,Millner needs to get healthy and step up
Granted, Milliner didn't play a good game at all, but that long touchdown should be blamed on both Milliner and Pryor. The help over the top was way late coupled with terrible tackling.
I couldn't agree more. The JETS regardless of the coach since I've been a fan, (1998), have not been able to get this team to play 60 full minutes of DOMINATING football. This team constantly thinks other teams will just lay down, that doesn't happen in the NFL. You have to step on the other teams throat and dominate every play basically not just for the first 28 minutes of the first half and then start to panic or get cute with the play calling and then disrupt any momentum that the team has going, which seems to be a constant theme.
Jets were not dominating even when we up 21-3. We were just playing extremely well, almost flawless football at all 3 facets. That wasn't going to be sustainable against a quality team like the Packers.
Plain and simple: Bad teams just know how to lose; rather, they just know how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Ask the Jets.
This is an explanation that I do not accept. IF they are capable of doing what they did in the 1st half then they are capable of doing it in the 2nd half and in every game going forward. There is/are no excuses.
Sloppy, poorly disciplined teams will hang on to squeak by the bad ones, like the Raiders, and find ways to lose to good ones, like the Packers.
It all starts with the FO and Coaching staff. Until that is fixed we can expect the same results game to game.
I don't think we beat ourselves...I think the DL got handled and our "star" corner got beat badly ....
in the old days games like this happened all the time but it's been a LONG time since we have seen something like this.
MAD??! Freakin FURIOUS! Not because they lost, but because that was probably the stupidest loss since the Fake Spike! Hopefully it has the reverse affect on the team. cue up the stupid "U mad bro" gifs
You left out, ' if Smith gets better every game' The Jets failed to close out an opponent for two weeks in a row. The O was shut down for a majority of the game. The front looks fantastic, IMO, the LB's and DB's have serious coverage issues.
Personally, this loss was very hard to take. I had to stay away from the board last night. I told myself I was gonna wait til tuesday but it feels better to vent. I am mad at this loss. I kept my expectations at bay, even when we were up 21-3, because I just knew. However, even with that internal Jets wisdom, I still wanted this team so badly to win that game. The fashion in which we lost absolutely tore my heart out. Totally gut-wrenching if you ask me. Anyways, lets beat Chicago.
I could deal with this loss better but the timeout is bothering me. So that is slightly shifting my disdain to the Jets and them blowing it.
I think in fact too many are making too much of the 21-3 thing. The Pack got themselves into a hole very early with that fumbled snap from their rookie second string Center, with the Jets getting field position at GB's 21. That was an unforced error and a stroke of great luck. Take that play out and who knows how the rest of the first quarter would have gone?
I'm one of the few who thought the Jets had a legit chance to win in GB, so I was really upset last night. But even if I hadn't been, anytime you are up by 18 points in an NFL game, you have to win and the "house money" argument goes out the window. Also, I am always really upset after a Jets loss, no matter what the expectations may have been.
Wrong...it is ALL about 21-3....more correctly 21-9. Half the damn game was over, essentially, before we opened the toilet seat and started to "flush" the damn game away. The Packers were manhandled the entire first half up until 3 minutes left in the damn half. Don't give me this crap about making too much of a blowout half. With THAT defense this should have never gotten close. Shit secondary or not. I will stay mad as hell until they win the next game...and I may not be happy then if they pull a shit sandwich of a penalty fest like they did with Oakland. I can handle getting the hell beat out of the team...if it's just that. What I can't handle is watching a bunch of ass clown Keystone Cops run around on the field with their dicks in their hands.
