8 to 11 wins. If we play like we've played the last two weeks it'll be more like 8. If the young guys improve, as it is reasonable to expect they will with more time on the field, we'll head upwards from there. The schedule isn't scary. It's a question of whether the Jets make the little improvements they need to make each week to become a better team. So far we have indicators both directions on that and we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Bears have a bad defense. But they do force turnovers, and are very opportunistic. We should be able to run on them. Hopefully they learn from the mistakes they made against GB.
Around the league one couldn't help notice how many of the Jets' future opponents played very well yesterday, suprisingly Detroit not being one of them. Big wins for both San Diego and Chicago. And the Pats smothered the Vikes, so that puts off the talk of them being in decline, at least for some. And Buffalo is at 2-0???? Who here predicted that? But back to Detroit - is it more that the Giants are really bad or the Panthers are really good? Probably both. Detroit seems though to continue having trouble playing consistently. So maybe I fear them a bit less than after watcthing them kill the Giants last week. Still it's more likely that Carolina really is a very good team, so I am leery of downgrading Detroit too much after their loss. At least Pittsburgh doesn't look so tough right now.
What's also scary is our return game is non existent and has been for 3 years Hakim scares me on almost every return as if he's gonna lose the ball
Schedule is still scary, but I think the Jets are a bit better than we thought going in. Last years team would never score 24 points (could have been 31) in Lambou in Green Bays home opener. Like we all said early in the season if we can start 4-4 we should be in good shape at the end of the year. The team is getting better. While he is partly at fault for the secondary being in flux, Idzik did a good job to field a better team than last season. With a couple more good drafts I really like where this team could be. Edit: Also, get Hakim out of here. He is here to be a kick returner and he isnt good at it. Get Enuwa on the roster and lets see what he can do lol.
The team has possibilities already. We just need to get a bit luckier than we have so far to see them come to fruition. The one thing that bothers me about the loss yesterday was that Milliner shouldn't have been in one-on-one coverage against Nelson with the game in doubt. That was a bad mismatch given Milliner's recent injury and the skills of the receiver involved. If that play doesn't happen the Jets are still in good shape at that point. This points out though that if Milliner wasn't just back from an injury the Jets matched up very well against the Packers yesterday. If Milliner can recover his playing form over the next couple of weeks the secondary could go from being questionable to being solid and if that happens, well the Jets are a pretty good team right now.
Agreed. Milliner shouldnt have been out there yesterday. Pryor didnt do much to help either. Looks like he was late on both long TD's.
I'm a bit more conservative with my prognostications. I choose to project factoring that the players will remain as they are (i.e., Milliner will remain inconsistent, Pryor will take the occasional bad angle, Bohannon will continue to not know how to block, Winters will keep struggling against quicker tackles, Geno will average at least a TO a game…etc…etc.). With that in mind, I see 7 wins as probably our max.
I'm with you on this. Milliner and Geno have had far more bad games than good, Pryor is 50/50 after two, so there is still optimism for him. They may all improve, but the time frame on this season is 14 weeks. We have a tough schedule, we can't to lose games we won in the first quarter, we can't afford mistakes both on the field from the players and on the sidelines from the coaches. I don't think splitting with Miami and Buffalo is as easy as it sounded 3 weeks ago.
That's the thing, what in our history would make anyone believe there will not be mistakes going forward at either fronts. We are a very young team with a very emotional HC; mistakes is par for the course. Even for the most veteran and disciplined teams in the league, mistake free games tend to be exception rather than the rule. That's why I find it silly when people make projections with the "as long as we don't…" caveat.
It's fucking funny to watch everyone's take just swing back and forth with each win or loss. Let me guess, the sked looks impossible again?
Looks pretty scary to me.. We have to split Bears/Lions if we lose both and go 1-3 were screwed. Chargers can go either way we'll see if they stay hot after beating Seattle. Then the Broncos/Pats match ups are going to be crazy tough we definitely have a better chance of beating New England. If we can win 3 of the next 5 we'll be just fine. 2 out of 5 would suck but could go on a second half run. If we only win one of the next 5 we're looking at 8-8 best finish probably worst. I have faith we can win at least 2 maybe 3
Yea I had the 49ers as one of my knockout pool entries. So pissed about that. How did they lose to the Bills at home and beat the 9ers. Kaep really blew it.
I didn't see the game, but it sounds like Chicago's rookie Cb got two fourth quarter interceptions. Sounds like that was the difference.
