I literally asked myself that same question yesterday.

I'd say absolutely but I also thought Matthew McConaughey was a stone cold lead pipe lock to win for True Detective.

Ah, I see. I don't know. I haven't seen too many - if any - performances from Mac that topped his role as Rusty.

It would suck if Theroux doesn't garner the recognition and praise that he deserves for this show. His acting/role in The Leftovers is reminiscent of Hugh Jackman's in The Fountain.

Yup, Cranston for Breaking Bad. I think there was a screw up and they put True Detective in the wrong category.

As great as Cranston was as WW, McConaughey gave one of the finest performances I've ever seen in a TV miniseries.

I thought he was going to sweep the Oscars and the Emmys for Best Actor. And I didn't even like the movie much.

Wow that song captures the show perfectly.

At points hopeful and seamlessly transitioning to hopelessness.

The soundtrack for Season 1 is now available in the Google store and iTunes.

I know this is the age of piracy 'n all, but I bought it via Google for $10.

TUB, stop being a tampon. You started this thread about the soundtrack and continue to make it about the soundtrack.

And the soundtrack sucks. It's one fucking song.

    Forever.

Haha I like the music too. I started it for the show, and the music became part of of the analysis. Sue me.

Besides, it was the most recent thing I had heard about the show.

You don't like it? Get over it.

    Reviving this thread.
Season 2 premiere was last night.
The opening scene with the Cave woman surviving the earthquake, giving birth, then getting bit by the snake and dying with the baby in her arms was kind of thought provoking.
The location of her collapse as a transition to the lake near town of Miracle (a town where no one departed) as some sort of mythical place was kind of bizarre.

I think this season is going to be quite interesting.

    Wtf. No promotion whatsoever.

I can get it On Demand. But still don't know why it wasn't advertised more.

Unlike Season 1, I won't recap and write commentary for weekly episodes because I just don't have the time, this year.

But I will say that the writing is phenomenal. It's as if the show is carving a new genre: "emotional action." I find myself on the edge of my seat, yet, without conventional "action" evoking that nervous feeling.

I just really enjoy this portrayal of people (character focused) as well as the illustration of a dystopian society seemingly on the verge of demise.

I'm going to pick it back up after the World Series.

I still can't believe how little pub its gotten after how great last year was.

Yeah I hear you about the WS. I haven't had to set aside time for October baseball in so many years that I forgot how time consuming a deep run is.

(I still haven't seen Episode 4 yet, so I'm a week behind. Might catch up after the game.)
