Two comments. First as much as I think little of Wilson, that doesn't mean Walls is better. So there's that. Second I don't expect Milliner to play very much. We might not even see him in there for half the plays on D. For all Wilson's shortcomings, I expect we will see a fair bit of him.
Against a guy like Rodgers you need pressure up the middle, not from the edge. Its not the strength of their D line to do this so extra cover guys could be what we see.
I know you have this thing against Walls but he is better. I can see it go either way depending on his play and how good of football shape he's in. While I don't expect him to play every snap, if I had to take an educated guess, I think we are going to see much more of him than Rex is leading on. This statement has been true for every game since he's been drafted but that still doesn't make it right.
it depends...sometimes with an ankle sprain it's good to put a little stress on it to help it strengthen and the best way to do that is by playing. HOWEVER, only if he is healthy at the point of doing so and on a limited basis. If there is ANY doubt that he is ready he absolutely must sit. I don't care if we're playing the Packers. We cannot afford for Milliner to re-aggravate and be staring at another 3 - 4 weeks because then we'll be in "lingering"territory and be in big trouble.
We will see what role Walls has with this team going forward. I don't want to relitigate his value here. Milliner may well play more than half the downs. But I hope the CS does not rush him back too fast just because the rest of the cb's are so weak. Better to take care of Milliner for the longer term view. I did not say it was right we will see a good bit of Wilson. Heh. It's just a prediction, imo based on a deduction from prior course of conduct by this CS.
Expecting to see a lot of Stephen Hill and Eric Smith never stopped me from wishing I didn't prior to a game.
Its becoming hard to belive Dee Millner was the 9th overall pick in last years draft.Hopefully he can stay healthy long enough for us to see what we have in him.He just doesn't feel like a top ten pick to me
I wouldn't sacrifice Harris' good play in the name of team speed. In reality we already have quite a bit of overall team speed, with Wilkerson, Richardson, Coples, and Davis. Harris is a really big part of the reason we allowed 25 rushing yards last week, and he's an effective blitzer. We won't be matching him up in coverage so I'm not sure why you're worried about his speed. Would you rather have Hitman Harris rocking Eddie Lacy in the backfield or have Allen getting run over in the backfield.
The way Ryan runs the D, it is doubtful he sits Harris no matter who the opponent is. Harris's play would have to decline before that happened.
