Revis is one of the best corners, ever. Sherman is very good but he doesn't follow the receiver around the field.

Also, Revis will be back in Green in 2015.

I love the people saying that Wallace torched Revis for his TD, Revis actually properly deflected the pass and Wallace somehow managed to bounce it off of his thigh/knee back into his hands for an extremely undertalked about play on his part.

    Revis beat him.

Wallace did beat Revis badly on a nice double move but the play was still incomplete.

Patriot's also looked to be playing a lot of zone against Miami for whatever reason and lining up with Chandler Jones as a 3-4 DE, not a good look for him. Mentioning the zone bit only because PFF talks about Revis following his man across the field, which wasn't always the case.

Imagine Revis with the best safety in the league playing behind him. Sherman doesn't "shadow" the guy like Revis did here.

Exactly why this debate is gonna live on and its gonna start to favor Sherm more. Teams aren't using Revis correctly. They are basically making him just another good corner instead of using his abilities to be a GREAT corner and make the rest of your defense look just as good while doing so. Revis changes whole DEFENSES... or maybe Rex is just the only guy crazy enough to use him that way. Gotta love Rex man.

Before another teams destroys his legacy, he should come back to Rex for like $11m/year

If he came back to THIS jets team and is still on his money hungry revis shit I'd say tell em go F him self honestly. He's gonna be 30 by the time he's eligible to play here again. Nobody on our roster has complained about the money they are making and that's how i like it. he should come for 8-9M its time for him to start getting realistic. ESP if this is the only place that showcases his TRUE ability, the ball would be in our court..that is only IF he cares about adding a ring to that legacy.

Rex created the Revis Island brand, no doubt about it.

Idzik won't sign him for 11 / YR ... Woody wouldn't let him

honestly i'd rather just let Dee develop into our next big time CB. I'd also rather us sign another proven guy to compliment Dee when the opportunity comes, not somebody that's gonna take his spot. I'm just over the Revis shit now, He's just pimpin the NFL for its millions.

This thread isn't about Revis coming back to the Jets.

Past that, I'm wondering how his experience with New England will affect his career.

Against Miami, they played him LCB the entire fucking game. What a fucking WASTE!!!

I almost felt sorry for him.

I think Revis played one side because Browner plays only one side. In order for Revis to follow the best WR all over the field, your other CBs have to be able to play both sides of the field.

Browner is suspended until week 5, my thought is that they are getting the defense used to Browner only being able to play one side.

My thought was the Pats really didn't think going in that Wallace merited that kind of attention. Last year Talib shadowed Clay.

I'm interested to see if Revis follows Patterson around...

You don't need a good CB on Patterson, just someone who can tackle. Patterson is not an NFL caliber wide receiver, or even close. He's a great play maker, but he is not anything close to a good receiver yet. Revis will probably once again play one side as there isn't anyone worth matching up with. When teams like the Packers and Bears start hitting the schedule I expect to see Revis follow receivers.

Revis stayed on one side all through camp and now he has spent an entire (losing) game on one side.

Beli may change things up, but it won't be part of some master plan, it will be because it's not working.

im convinced Rex is the only coach that will allow Revis to be Revis because of the risk. Also NOBODY believes in Revis like Rex does... He made that clear that he was one of the best players if not the best player he ever coached. Sherman would never be left on an island with Megatron and only allow 1 catch for 9 yards... NEVER

Rex said during the offseason of 2009 that Revis was the best corner in the league. At the time, Revis had maybe dialed into the top ten.

Then he went on to have one of the greatest seasons a corner has ever had.

Say what you want about Rex doling out praise for his players, but when a player is that talented and takes a leap like that in a single season, you gotta know that coaching had a lot to do with it.

Revis allowed one completion for 4 yards to Greg Jennings, Shermand allowed ~4 for 40ish to Keenan Allen.

Doesn't really say much, receivers are moving in different directions of their careers but man did the Seahawks have a bad day on defense. Allen was productive, Gates was unstoppable, Rivers only had something like 6 balls hit the turf, impressive outing by the chargers. Seahawks even got spotted a free TD by the refs and still couldn't win.

In game 1, Revis stayed at LCB. Did he line up anywhere else for game 2?

Edit: Actually, nevermind, I just quick clicked all of their defensive snaps. He was LCB for all but a few zone sets, and he followed Jennings whenever he was in man coverage. You're right, though, he only gave up one reception, plus he had a pick.

It looked like they were shading the safeties a bit toward Patterson's side, leaving Revis in man on Jennings for most of the game. (Belichick used to do that with Law - have him cover the other team's possession guy, and double the more explosive but less seasoned receiver on the other side.) He did a nice job on him and looked much smoother back there than he did in week one.
