I think Rodgers is clearly the best QB of the three teams, but I think based on what I saw last night Detroit is the better offense. I think Chicago may be the weakest overall, and I saw a good amount of the Bills game since that was the main game at the bar I was watching from. Chicago was able to run on the Bills, giving Cutler more leeway. I believe they will not be able to run on us as much, and here's the real key to the Bears in my opinion: They need Forte, Marshall, and Jeffrey in the game at once. If any come out even for a short time due to injury or anything, their offense just doesn't run well. The good news is all 3 teams are weak vs the run.
I am not sure Detroit is weak against the run. The Bills win over Chicago may not have meant all that much. It was a close game and the Bills got some really good catch and run plays in there. I am hardly counting that game as a win for the Jets. And of course the other thing is maybe the Bills are really better this year.
The Bears biggest issues is their mediocre defense, IMO. And Cutler, despite all of his undeniable physical talent, just isn't consistent. He has games where he looks like a young Brett Favre and other games where he looks like Jeff George.
The Lions definitely have the more talented defensive front of the three teams, and sometimes that shines through and sometimes it doesn't. The good news is that their secondary is terrible and they aren't deep up front, they just have a few top quality starters. I wouldn't call any of these games a win, I wouldn't be shocked if we walk away 0-3. All I'm saying is I think our run heavy offense and suffocating defense is a good matchup vs Green Bay and Chicago, but may be more of a problem vs Detroit because of how high powered their offense is. That's 3 weeks away though so you never know who will be healthy for us or Detroit.
Whenever I see this thread, this is the first thing that pops into my head. We need to run the ball effectively, not turn it over, and disrupt Rodgers' rhythm by putting him under pressure. Do those things and we are in this game. The Pack are not unbeatable.
When Dee returns to 100% the CB position could end up being a position of strength for us, which would make for lots of lulz, not to mention a dominant defense.
Jets must work time of possession heavily in their favor (go get a hotdog Rogers), and we know what that means. While GB's DL looks susceptible to the run, adding Peppers to bookend with Matthews at OLB is going to present issues coming off the edge. GB's coming off a loss and playing a home opener with 10 days to prepare no less is going to be a tough nut to crack. Butt Clunker?!!!....lmao....say wha'??!!! I know this is Jay's baliwick, so I'll leave it to him for the updates as game time approaches, but for now, preliminary indicators appear favorable for Sunday: Green Bay Weather Sunday, Sep 14 Updated: Sep 10, 2014, 12:32pm CDT Mix of sun and clouds. This secondary is getting picked apart today, they haven't been able to stop anything. We can't get pressure so our guys are getting torched in coverage
another horrible game for our secondary. spooted a 21-3 lead and our line was getting pressure and they still couldnt keep from getting torched. not much you can do when you give a ton of snaps to the worst corner in the league(milliner) and start the worst duo in the league(walls/allen). milliner shouldnt see the field unless its as a 4th corner. he makes kyle wilson look good
Milliner wasn't doing terrible until the Jordy long TD. Pryor for whatever reason was not helping over the top a couple times when it seems like he should have.
You gotta give Milliner a pass due to his ankle but Antonio Allen is not a NFL level CB. He is a backup safety and shouldnt be forced in a starting role. Walls is in the same boat but should be a decent backup CB. We are throwing guys into starting roles that dont have the skills to be starting and youre seeing the results. This is just the beginning too. Imagine what Manning and Brady and company are going to do to these guys.
Milliner is just a bad player. sure maybe he is slowed to injury, but even last year he was awful. he should be a special teams/4th CB. he shouldnt be on the field for an NFL team
milliner sucked all day. there was one play where he gaurded nelson well. outside of that he was torched. targeted 11 times for 8 catches 178 yards allowed and a TD. thats TERRIBLE
