OJ decapitated his wife and he'd still be walking the streets today if he wasnt jailed for something else
A year suspension is what the penalty should be. Leonard Little and Donte Stallworth killed people while intoxicated and came back to play. He deserves a second chance. Not condoning it whatsoever.
Agree 100% To be honest I don't give a shit about the incident itself. I don't condone it, I just don't care. Like Byz said in another thread, it's 1000 miles away from me and doesn't touch me in any way. What pisses me off is NFL reaction. First it's a meeting behind closed door. Hush hush, she asked for him, let's make it 2 games. A week later .. Oh oh people don't like it, let's make a strong stance on the issue, suck up a little to those yappers on the street. Two weeks later video released.. Well NOW we, the Goodell, are outraged! Lifetime ban! Shame forever! Goodell is a fucking pussy and a whore. I swear, I would think better of him if someone leaked pictures with gizz all over his face.
That last sentence about the jizz is the reason why this board is pretty cool lol. You guys are fuckin nuts, its great
Ray Rice gets paid millions based on his ability to run the football and because people want to watch him do it. Now no one wants to see him anywhere near a football field because they've seen indisputable video evidence that he's a gigantic piece of shit, what's the problem? Whether he's "banned" or not no team is going to go anywhere near the guy.
That in my opinion has been the calling card for Goodell. Every decision, is always a step late. Player safety (not just QBs), concussions, punishments, replay expansion, replacement refs, drug testing. And of course the double speak is second I guess. We care about safety, let's add more games!
My problem is with continuous changing of NFL position on the issue. First it's OK, then - no so much, now it's full throttle damage control. I would just give him 6 games off from the start and be done with it. Rice was a fucking asshole, punish him accordingly. I'm pissed off at cowardly changes. If Goodell decided that 2 game was right -- stick to your decision.
You're looking for accountability or integrity or humanity or whatever from a soulless corporate entity that's only concerned with profit? The right thing happened in this case, saying that Rice should've only been suspended 2 games so that Goodell could say he "stuck to his guns" is idiotic.
I'd prefer if Rice was punished properly right away and Goodell would climb off of his imaginary knightly horse.
It might be worse if it comes out that the NFL purposely avoided watching the video or didn't pursue it actively. It's always silly that they are in damage control because they didn't punish Ray Rice with a severe punishment (compared to other suspensions in the NFL)
People are upset because the Ravens didn't cut him sooner before the video evidence was released? Nobody knew what exactly happened in that elevator before this video. I swear we still live in the 17th century sometimes, didn't we move past the Salem Witch Trials?
They knew he hit his fiance and knocked her out. Then they act ultra surprised when a video shows exactly that. I mean what were they expecting to see?
It both there faults and you can go about taking but that bullshit. From what was on the video she hit him twice then charged him in a elevator. If your 150lbs and you get into a disagreement with a 300lbs man do you slap him? It was wrong for him to punch her but she was also wrong for hitting him and rushing him.
The nfl are not the police, they have to balance affecting a persons life, as well as handing out discipline. I don't believe anyone here knows whether they initially saw the video or not. But they are allowed to change their disciplinary action based on new information. Stop making it sound like the nfl has the right rule for everything that goes on off the field with the players. Most organizations only have zero tolerance policies on what takes place within the scope of their business structure, in the nfl it's the field. I have no problem with how RG handled it. Hindsight is 20/20.
So let me get this straight ( no pun intended). You support Rice and domestic violence and have no problem with anyone beating their girlfriend/wife if "provoked" by words or slaps, but denounce a man who acts like a role model because he happens to be gay and play football and had the nerve to tell people about it to break down a societal barrier? And you wonder what is wrong with this country?
Well supposedly the video really didn't show us anything new. This is what Ray Rice and the NFL said happened in the elevator. It matches the story told. Watching the video just shows the brutality of it and left the NFL in damage control mode. EDIT: I didn't read your post correctly. The Ravens shouldn't be forced to investigate this on their own. The NFL should have had the video and showed it to Baltimore so they knew everything. So the Ravens should have the video before the suspension was officially given so if they wanted to they could have made the decision then, not now
