He realizes he fucked up and rather than dig his heels in he admitted to the fuck up and did as best as he could to rectify the situation. I think it's going to be based on the incident. A high profile battering, regardless of whether it results in a conviction, a plea bargain, even an accusation is going to come under scrutiny. If cops are called to a residence based upon a 911 call or a neighbors call or a claim of spousal abuse is going to get someone dinged. _

It would be quite hypocritical of Ray Rice if he volunatarily suspends himself AFTER he had that press conference apoligizing. He knew what happened, so either leave for the season or dont do a thing. This whole thing is about to explode to because the Ravens get national attention this Thursday, Ray would be reinstated Friday. The NFL has 4 days and ticking to do something.

I would say it doesn't look like it was 100% unprovoked (she slapped him before they even got in the elevator and who knows what before that) but that in no way justifies his reaction. I hope they at least re-open the investigation and suspend him for 6 games per the new policy.
