He looked the best during the Giant game. He was 9/14 with 1 TD drop by Decker and 1 TD pass to Sudfield that was a tough one to haul in but had pinpoint accuracy that made sure either his guy caught it or it would be incomplete. There was also one ball that Hill should have caught as well but he is Hill so we know how that story goes. The thing I like the most right now is how comfortable he already looks with Amaro. Even when he doesn't throw it his way you can see Geno constantly checking to see if Amaro will be in favorable coverage.
The TD to Amaro totally faked out the Giants defense - Geno threw from under center. That may have been his first throw from center the entire game, they were reading run the entire time, Amaro was completely uncovered.
That's a good example of why not having Geno pass very much from under center, atleast in the preseason, can now be used to MM's advantage. Both the Giants and Bengals were stacking the box with 8 guys whenever Geno was under center. With great route runners like Decker and Kerley and some big TE targets, that could lead to some easy 8 yard passes that turn into 40+ yard plays.
His ball placement was magnificent in the Giants game Also Decker Amaro Sudfeld Kerley Is a very reliable core of weapons if we can just grab someone who can stretch the field and be a home run threat on the outside
Come on. I liked the poise and calm he displayed in that game, but his accuracy was far as fucking hell from "magnificent". Are you really that eager to set yourself up for disappointment? He did a pretty good job, and there's a shitload of room for improvement. At least let the guy grow before you start sucking him off.
Define "sucks" and tell us how many games it will take to prove it either way. Then tell us how much it means to you.
If hill can't be somewhat productive with the weapons we have now...he will be out of the league. He is a 3rd option wr with superior athleticism/size. If he can't make use of it now, i doubt he ever will.
Btw, Sudfeld/Amaro can be something special. Both have insane amounts of potential, Sudfeld was viewed as a "baby gronkowski" @ patriots camp last year and Amaro can be a top 10 TE. Our offense should be middle of the pack at best and slightly below average at least.
So where are all the Jet fans at that called me an idiot when I said Geno already has elite accuracy. 80 percent today and it would have been 85 percent if it wasn't for our O-Line getting penalties, Decker getting a dumb PI call, and Salas dropped a TD pass.
Watched him closely at the stadium today. He looks much much better at the pocket but let's wait before we crown him. Oakland has given the most yards against the pass last year. Not sure what they did in the off season so let's wait before we call Geno special. But again he looked really nice today.
The funny thing is I agree with everything you wrote but not your conclusion. The question is, what would someone like Manning be if he had crappy receivers? Would he throw around 53%? I doubt it.
In their rookie seasons? No doubt. Today though? That's debatable. Brady just threw for 52% percent today and his receiving core is pretty awful other the Gronk who has more injury's then Mick Foley. Manning lost Decker and Welker (atleast right now) and his percentage tonight went down to only 61% when it was at 67%. Either way though Geno was either 1 TD grab from Salas or 1 bullshit P.I. call on Decker away from breaking the Jets all time single game completion percentage record today, and the guy who is #1 (Pennington) is the most accurate QB in the history of the league. For a guy playing in his 17th NFL game, that's ridiculous.
