Browns' OC was talking about running the wild cat this season, except he said the wild cat usually has a non-qb under center like a RB, where they will have Manzeil running it which keeps the pass a legitimate option. Shit just won't die!

I realize the read option is different from the WC, but still.

With the read option the QB starts running around the edge with a RB out further. The only job of the QB is to read the OLB. If the OLB crashes down on the QB, he tosses it out to the RB. If the OLB stays out with the RB, the QB keeps it and goes as far as he can until he gets crushed by someone else.

A read option QB will not have a long career.

The Jets should be trying to incorporate spread, not read option.

That's as much a gimmick as the actual wildcat that the Phins used years ago, and not that direct snap shit that football morons have been calling Wildcat ever since.

Scheme = wrinkle no? That's practically the same terminology. That specific pass play has got to be in the playbook, but you are right the QB must make the correct decision from the snap, to knowing if you should hold on to it, to ultimately deciding if you want to throw the ball or not.

I prefer the spread as well for Geno Smith - but you know the Jets are going to use the read option plenty of times this season - no denying it, so why not add it in? I would rather have them use the Read option then the Wildcat ... at least then the QB is involved in the offense.

It will all be good until someone gets hurt. We have yet to see a QB get injured from the Read Option.

Want to bet Manziel will be the first?

Wrinkle speaks to a certain type of play, its in every read option play known to mankind, if a DB leaves a receiver throw it to him.

You can mix a lot things up with read option

    Play action
    Draws
    Screens
    Deep balls

It keeps the back 7 and edge rushers thinking and can make your offense really explosive

As long as you keep mixing it up
