agreed...you cant throw out a superbowl game in which everyone go shutdown and say see...look..he sucked in that game. Come on..if it were that easy during Revis great years, look at all the great receivers that walked away with 1 reception for 7 yards..the list had some potential hall of fame guys. If Decker can..and will...bring a guy out of the box to allow the running game to be even better..and draw enough attention that someone else will benefit...and get numbers in between what he had with the Broncos with Manning..and what he had with the Broncos with Tebow...it was a great pickup for the Jets. For what this team wants to do on offense it was a great pickup.
Decker is getting paid just as much as Stevie Johnson and a little more then Golden Tate I would say he is better then both and is not overpaid
How can you write off Ivory, Powell Cumberland? Ivory ran for over 800 yards last year and averaged 4.5 + yards a carry even though he was hurt at multiple points during the season. Powell has averaged 4 yards a carry the past 2 seasons and he had over 900 yards of offense last year. I don't think anyone who say Cumberland is a top TE in the league, but you could make an argument that he's in the top half. Saunders is young and unproven, but has the athletic ability. You can't call these guys scrubs.
If Stephen Hill was even half of what we expected him to be, Decker's potential would be multiplied tenfold. (Don't do the math on that one.) The Stephen Hill bust looms even larger with the acquisition of Decker, who would have such a higher ceiling if we had the vertical threat that Hill was supposed to bring.
*Yawn* "Hey, you're not a fan of the team unless you pretend that every bad player they have is awesome and every dumb move management makes is brilliant."
You're not a fan if you're a fan of another team signing up for a Jets message board to troll them by posting things no one with an actual brain would post.
i dont understand how everyone could call eric decker a product of manning,, but demarious thomas isnt.. thomas has never had a 1000 yard season until manning became a bronco and he was drafted the same year a decker i understand thomas is a more gifted athlete then decker but still
schlereth is certainly a bitter blowhard... but not all of what he said is out of line. -nothing without peyton(or at least not nearly as productive) - catch 50 balls - not as good as sanders those 3 statements are all realistic
So you think Decker will average only 3 catches a game? And that Emmanuel Sanders, a player who has not accomplished half as much as Decker is better? And you think Decker is nothing without Peyton even when he made plays with Tebow?
Sanders give the Broncos something they didnt have, a legit down field threat. The Broncos wont do as many short passes as they did, Decker is better for shorter plays but Sanders can stretch the field. The lack of a big time deep threat had to do with what did them in, in the Super Bowl. When you are going against a good defense, secondary, you want to shorten the amount of pass attempts. You can do that by hitting big plays.
You cant just compare the stats straight up, Decker was in an offense that helped all of the receivers to excel statistically, if Decker was in Pittsburgh he doesnt match Sanders numbers, sorry.
that downfield threat(w/a great downfield passer as his QB) has averaged 12.6 per rec while Eric decker 13.8(it was 13.9 w/ tebow/Orton). Decker's 11 TDs last year match the amount Sanders has in his CAREER
Decker blows away sanders' #s in Pitt which throws the ball a lot. 2011 w/ Orton/Tebow Denver threw it 429 times. Decker caught 44 balls, 612 yds, 13.8 avg., 8 TDs 2013 w/ Ben Pitt threw 586 times. Sanders caught 67 balls, 740 yds, 11 avg., 6 TDs. prorate Decker's #s w/ the same pass attempts(even from MUCH worse QBs). 60 recs, 836 yds, 11 TDs Decker is the better player. Lets see Sanders catch 11 or 13 TDs this year w/ Peyton.
