I'd add Larry Fitz and Andre Johnson to that tier of possibilities.

What? Decker hasn't played a regular season snap for this team yet. Holmes has excellent play making ability, no doubt. He also won the Jets a few games.

he was very good, I'm not sure better than Decker as Decker also gives our QB a big target which Holmes couldn't do. Big plays and size.

People forget that Decker was fairly productive from a numbers standpoint with Tebow. The jury may still be out on Smith but he is a better NFL QB then Tim Tebow ever was.

If Decker caught 60+ balls for 800+ yards with 6-10 TDS i'd be pretty happy.

Heh. I'd like to see them with competent QB play. I still think they draw double coverage with competent QB play.

    Top 5 WR's today:

Calvin, Dez, AJ, Julio, D Thomas

    Next 5 right below them:

    Brandon Marshall
    Jordy Nelson
    Antonio Brown
    Alshon Jeffrey
    Randall Cobb

    Right behind them:

    Keenan Allen
    Vincent Jackson
    Victor Cruz
    Andre Johnson

Holmes is a better talent then Decker absolutely. I don't think anybody can really argue that. Holmes is explosive and had big play ability.

Decker can still be pretty good though, as long as expectations are realistic. He's not Keyshawn Johnson or anything like that. He's a quality wideout who should work well with Geno and Kerley. This team still lacks a legit number 1 receiver though. That's an issue in a passing league like the NFL has become.

I wasn't a fan of the Decker signing at first. But I've talked myself into it. He is a sure handed receiver that runs good clean crisp routes. That's something Geno needs as he develops. No matter what. Decker is a reliable receiver.

His ability to beat man coverage is very valuable. Holmes couldn't beat press consistently. I would value Decker more in this case then Holmes. I'm all about players that are reliable. Decker has been productive no matter who is throwing him the ball.

If Decker had Big Ben / average Sanchez throwing to him, I'm sure he would have better #s. But he had Tebow and Orton.

He neglects to mention that Decker probably learned a lot from Peyton and improved his game. I mean he had 44 catches with 8 TDs with Tebow & Orton, so it certainly isn't JUST Manning. I did prefer Emmanuel Sanders in the off season, but he certainly isn't miles ahead of Decker. They are around the same level. Just looking at the stats, Decker's are superior to Sanders by a good amount. Manning may have something to do with it, but even still you have to get separation to catch balls, no matter who throws it to you and Decker can do that.

In reality, this year is going to be much more dependent on Geno Smith's development, than Eric Decker.

And are we not paying Decker less $$$ then Holmes?

The Holmes contract was one of the worst in Jets recent history.

From what I've seen, Decker isn't all that great at fighting through strong press coverage, but he makes up for it with precise routes and using his size to create separation past 5 yards.

It was but he was also a major part of success in our 11-5 season ,personally I thought we should have brought him back on a 1 year deal he has made some serious plays for the Bears in the preseason shades of old Holmes. He would have been a better option then half the WRs on the team

I'm not just talking about this team.Decker had zero catches in the Superbowl,Holmes made arguably the best play in Superbowl history.Holmes in his prime takes a dump on Decker

I think he's better than the past receivers we had at the top of the depth chart. We can look at the tape from the SB, the only guy getting open that game was D. Thomas the WR.

He had a TD reception and a punt return against players that might not make the squad... I really liked Holmes in 2010, but 2011 - could not stand the guy.

The idea that Decker is going to put up 500 yards is laughable. If healthy, that's like 30 yards per game.

Decker had a catch but his team was facing the Seattle D not the Arizona D- the same D that allowed more than 40 pts numerous times throughout that 2008 season.

Geez. Who would have thought that Mark Schlereth was married to my migrant cleaning lady?
