exactly, the rigid thinking associated with numbering WR's is meaningless, a "number one" wide receiver is nether properly defined nor relevant to a teams success.

Again what is Deckers stats going to be this season? (he was paid the top dollar of all the recievers in free agency I believe, so he better produce).

A #1 receiver is a receiver that can succeed despite the opposing defense game planning around them. When you put your best corner and safety help on a certain receiver, they are a #1 imo.

Lets be clear to, I dont want Decker to fail. I disagree with the signing, im not expecting much, but I hope I am dead wrong about this topic, I really do.

I don't care what his stats will be, I care about him making plays to help us win and taking pressure off other parts of the offense.

There are about 2-3 of those guys in the NFL.

Decker has been getting a lot of this #2 criticism this offseason.

I am excited to see him prove the critics wrong

I would love for him to prove me wrong, if he can put up 800-900 yards this season then that means this offense is rolling. I think we are looking at 400-500 yard season though.

Maybe on Denver he was a #2. However with this Jets offense lacking any top skill position guys after last season, Decker automatically vaults to #1 status for THIS team. Every team is different. For the Jets, Decker happens to be the most talented WR on the squad (although I still think Kerley given the opportunity is just as good if not better).

no, no way. he's too good a WR for that and he'll be targeted too much for that to happen as well.

to scale JK got a bit more than that in 12 games with Smith at QB. why would Decker get less?

Not arguing this because you will just disagree.

For Decker to hit 800 yards he'll need to average 50 yds per game, if he plays all 16 games - I think that's more than realistic. We'll see...

Instead of trying to predict what will happen, just watch. You could be right you could be wrong.

He did have 600 yards, with Tebow and Orton. So 800 yards is not really far fetched.

    Only time will tell.....

Ever since this signing all I fucking hear is #1 this #1 that, I'm sick and tired of it. It's such a bullshit buzzword used by dipshit analysts. By the logic that soxxx is using there's less than ten "number ones" in the league. The fact of the matter is Eric Decker is far and away the best receiver on this team and going to be a huge help for the offense this year. And comparing Emmanuel Sanders to Eric Decker is fucking stupid, Sanders has never even come close to putting up Decker-like numbers.

And if these #1 receivers are so dime a dozen as you seem to think they are "soxxx" I would love for you to start rattling some names off.

we aren't here to agree, it's ok to disagree. I'd like to see who you think is a #1 based on the criteria you gave, you mentioned Braylon but clearly based on the criteria Braylon doesn't fit.

Junc is kind of right in that the stats don't matter, but I'm expecting at least 800+ if he's healthy all year.

    Yup, maybe 4 tops.

Megatron definitely. Maybe Dez. Maybe Jones. Maybe Marshall. Who else?

AJ Green? Thomas? I'm not so sure.

And Revis can probably shut down all of them by himself.
