    That would be ideal.

Not a bad point and I'm not arguing that Geno is the long term solution as our franchise quarterback although we will certainly find out this year even by week 7, 8, 9.

You make a good point about the opportunity he was given as many of these quarterbacks were barely given an opportunity. I wish this list included how many of these guys endured regime changes and coaching changes to the point where they were never given an opportunity like Geno to develop in the same system he came into as the starter and it being with a successful offensive coordinator.

We haven't had a true franchise QB since Pennington 10 years ago. You can draft any QB. But it's a lot harder to draft a franchise QB. Hopefully Geno develops into one so we don't have to search for one anymore.

In terms of opportunity, Geno's first to second year in the NFL is very much mirroring that of Tony Banks. There's usually a stark difference between the opportunities given to 2nd round draft choices and their 1st round counterparts. Banks, I believe was the first QB taken in his draft and was treated by the Rams like a 1st rounder in that he was given every opportunity to succeed. Even after a somewhat poor rookie season, he was the unquestioned starter the next season.

The most important point from that article, in my opinion:

"The truth is that the Jets don’t have a lot left in the cupboard from the Mike Tannenbaum era. After Tannenbaum hit on offensive linemen D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold with his first two picks as general manager in 2006 and followed it with Darrelle Revis and David Harris in 2007, the well went dry. The Jets had no mid-round picks in 2007, and Revis obviously has come and gone. Vernon Gholston and Mark Sanchez headed the 2008 and 2009 classes, neither of which have any players left on this roster. Wilson, a bust, is the only player left from 2010. The Jets had only 13 total picks from 2008 to 2010, repeatedly trading up in drafts to get players like Sanchez and Shonn Greene or using selections to acquire veterans like Brett Favre, Braylon Edwards, and Kris Jenkins. When you make those trades and end up with guys like Revis, you look like a genius. When you make that same move for Sanchez, well, it’s not so hot. The drafts got better once Tannenbaum started to hold on to his picks in 2011, but this team has very few players in the prime of their careers; it’s either old-as-sin veterans or young players on rookie contracts. This is a very thin team with a great head coach who probably would have lost his job had the Jets not been lucky and healthy last season. If that’s not the case this year, they may just be a thin team with a new head coach in 2015."

Practically nails why Tanny had to leave and it still has an impact on the Jets of today

    Best case scenario

    - Geno plays as well as he did in the preseason and looks much better then he did year 1. I swear if Peyton Manning was a rookie in today's NFL people would be writing him off as a massive bust that has zero chance for future success.

    - The Jets end up with a top 3 running attack. Again it is amazing to me that nearly everyone who does a writeup on the Jets ignores this. We have a true bruiser in Ivory and a CJ2K that looks completely revitalized. Those 2 together could potentially be the dest duo in the whole league.

    - Decker proves everyone wrong and shows that he is much more then a product of a Manning offense.

    - Amaro catches 55+ balls and has one of the better rookie seasons a TE has ever had. Not really a stretch considering how many he caught in preseason already.

    - Our front 7 is just as dominant as last year.

    - Our Secondary is below average but since the D-Line is so good they look pretty solid.

    - Jets go 11-5.

    Worst Case Scenario.

    - Geno shows zero improvement and plays horribly. Vick comes in and plays like he always does (lots of turnovers).

    - Our receiving core shows little to no improvement.

    - Amaro can't remember the playbook and is a total non-factor.

    - Ivory and CJ2K get injured or are ineffective.

    - Our D-Line stuffs the run but can't get to the QB.

    - Our secondary gets destroyed on a weekly basis.

    - Jets go 5-11.

The fact that 90+% of the columnists out there have completely written off Geno is baffling, especially after looking very good in the preseason. Could he fall on his face? Sure, but to ignore the possibility that Geno plays light years better then last year is ignorant journalism. Another really big key is that the Jets only had 3 3-and outs in the 2 halfs the starters played against the Giants and Bengals combined. Rex Ryan's defenses every single year have had to deal with the most 3-and-outs in the entire league, and are still always anywhere from very good to great. If the offense can cut down on them and keep the defense fresh this team could quickly have a brand new dynamic to it.

I can't believe you just admitted you'd rather have Sanchez win SB (so you can stick it to Jets) rather then Jets actually win SB.

From now on this is official:

Let's see what Geno can do with actual talent and a year in this offense under his belt.
I believe in the kid but the jury's still out.
If this offense can somehow click , the skies the limit for this team.
"If" is a hell of a word.
