Just some more media praise: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/nfl-season-predictions-bottom-eight-teams/
The only way Geno would get benched is if he blows games for us. Can we start the season like 1-4? Sure. But it will most likely be because of the QB's we face torching our secondary. And if thats the case Geno wont be getting benched. But seeing how a "best case scenario" would be turning to a 34 year old backup who's a walking pulled hamstring , well that really doesnt make me take much stock into this opinion.
Barnwell doesn't like the Jets and never has. If you go look at his Jets predictions over the years they are always brutal. He's either a Pats or Giants fan although there is some point of contention on which team he really roots for. Lives in Boston, btw.
What I find amusing is he claims we wont survive that stretch? Didnt we hear that last year? and we ended up starting 5-4. Ironically the stretch where people thought would be easy ended up being our worst.
What a refreshing, either or, cover your ass analysis. I'm going to dismiss it as fiction sprinkled with minimal facts.
Why does the bold seems to be the rationale behind every less than glowing analysis on Jets? Is the best case scenario biased as well? Are we closer to a 12-13 win team if all goes well?
The one thing I don't agree with is that the only way we could have a successful season is to bench Geno. IMO I think Vick has checked out. At least, I know Geno is invested.
If we managed 9 wins, I was would be in blissful shock. Plus Rex would deserve a real extension. If we win more than 9, then Rex is the COY.
His best case scenario is Geno getting benched and not the Jets winning 9 or more with Geno? That makes no sense.
If Geno gets benched then that means we have to search for another QB. Since Vick isn't the long term solution. And with our track record that's better said than done.
Rex and Idzik would simply have to make a public apology to Sanchez [and Junc] then beg Sanchez to sign here. Long-term disaster avoided
Pretty much, thats why I am suprised we stopped searching for a QB. People keep comparing us to Seattle, but ill say this, Seattle never stopped looking until they found Wilson. They went through Hassleback, Whitehurst, Tavaris Jackson, Matt Flynn before drafting Wilson. Geno hasnt done enough to prove he was the answer, meanwhile there are young QBs all over the league that the Jets could have drafted, some of which are showing potnetial. Lets hope none of them outside of Bortles become something, or else we will regret not taking em.
I love how the best case scenario involves benching the guy that has looked very good this preseason in favor of the guy who hasn't looked good in two years. Grantland is usually bullshit. This is no different.
Not a terrible prediction IMO. I see the Jets as a baseline 8 win team. That means they could very well take a game or two they should not have won (timely turnover, lucky bounce etc.) and go 9-7/10-6 OR the opposite could happen and we see 6-10.
The odds are very much against Geno being our long term solution at QB. Not too long ago I posted the list of 2nd round QBs in the past 25-30 years; the list isn't pretty. I think Brees, Dalton and Kaep were the only ones to get a legitimate shot by the team that drafted them. One could argue Brees didn't really get a fair shot in SD. If Geno pans out; he would be bucking the trend.
