Fairly regularly in the past, the Jets have made rookie QBs look great in their debuts. Particularly with the Jets' well-documented issues at CB, this first game against Oakland is gonna be interesting. Hopefully, the Jets jump out to a lead to put more pressure on Oakland, and enable our pass rush to tee off more on Carr and ratchet up the pressure. I'd rather the Jets have faced Schaub than Carr.

Our offense ought to be able to move the ball and put up points against Oakland. Rex better come up with a good defensive game plan to pressure Carr. If he does, it should be a fairly easy win imo.

Yes I do. You haven't seen the Jets make a number of rookie QBs look great, you're the one who hasn't been watching games and/or paying attention, wise ass.

Rex i believe is 6-2 against rookie QB's, and one of the losses was against a stacked Seahawk team with a pretty good rookie QB.
His defenses are particularly tough on inexperienced QB's, and he has a knack for exploiting that inexperience.

In short, if Carr does indeed torch us, either he will be something special or we are truly fucked.
i don't think he'll torch us tho, even despite our shit CB situation. The weeks after are a different story..

I like Carr as much as anyone on this board and he is going to get killed Sunday. This could be the "David Carr" moment for him.

Raiders are making a big mistake and they should sit him for a while and let him get his feet wet a bit at a time. Kind of like what the Giants did with Eli.

Depends. I am leery of blitzing Carr because Run DMC is not the type of back you allow get open and he can score on us if Carr hits on a RB screen to combat the 3rd down blitz. Blitzing with McFadden on the field provides too much danger.

I rather confuse Carr with shifting off a safety or linebacker post snap which is what I hope to do. You confuse him and rely on your pass rushers to sustain pressure one on one.

Rookie QB's against Rex Ryan defense:

On average, rookies see their QBR drop 6.8 points against the Jets.

In seven of the nine games the rookie posted a QBR lower than his season average.

Four posted a QBR at least ten points lower than their average while only one posted a QBR at least ten points above average.

The two quarterbacks now widely acknowledged as legitimate franchise quarterbacks, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson saw their QBR's lowered by 29.6 and 19.5 respectively.

No I'm not. Things have certainly gotten a lot better since Rex became the HC, I'm not disputing that, but in general the team has had a bad history over the last 20 years or so of making rookie and scrub QBs look great. If you deny that then either you weren't rooking for the team then or your memory is bad. With the CB position being in such a state of flux, and Carr being a great QB prospect anyway, and with his having looked so good vs Seattle, I think there's the potential for Carr to have a very good game. That's all I'm saying.

With the strength of our front seven Rex should be able to confuse/fluster Carr enough to get the win at home. Strange as it is to say this, I have more concern right now about things on the defensive side of the ball until we see this secondary perform...

Carr won't have a good game. One of his biggest weaknesses is holding onto the football too long. Go back and look at when the Jets played Luck the first time.

It's going to be like that, maybe worse.

That's what I see coming, it will also take a lot of pressure off Geno. Geno doesnt need to have a big game, just make the needed throws and get out with a win.

What does any Jets team from a decade+ ago have to do with this years Jets team? Just admit you made a dumb ass thread and move on.

It's quite clear that the Jets have pretty much owned rookie QB's since Rex arrived.
