I think we take it, if we don't then I think we're in for a rougher season (especially first half of the season) than a lot of people anticipated.
According to what I read on this board last season, that all depended on whether or not Kerley was in the line-up. By all accounts Kerley will be healthy and playing so expect good Geno.
I really hope Idzik doesn't lowball Kerley and make him leave this offseason, if we should have learned anything from Sanchez it is that young QB's need continuity with their WR's.
This game will be defined by our running game. I expect CJ and Ivory to both approach 100 yards. Look for a few 3rd down conversions to Kerley and a handful of 20 yarders to Decker and Amaro. Against our defense? Things will go well at first, and Oakland will get careless and throw 2 ints before the game is over.
Yup if your gonna go to Lambeau ya wanna go early. So the Jets get a break there. Different D but they handled Rodgers pretty well last time we faced him in 2010. I hate to "look past" Week 1. Always a dangerous move. But I just cant see any way we lose to Oakland. This must be what a fan of a constant winning team feels like lol.
I see us losing to the Raiders and everybody saying how bad we suck. Then beat Green Bay and some people on hear got us going to Super Bowl.
See you guys in week 2. I think we have our work cut out for us against Seattle of course. I hope we come out of there with a huge victory but I wouldn't be surprised at all if we lost.
Vegas puts Jets at 5 point favorites!!!! No, you are not seeing things.... I believe the Jets will steamroll on yardage with CJ and Ivory running wild. By halftime we are up 14-0. In third the defense starts to wilt and Schaub/Carr get a TD. 14-7. Geno finds Decker in end zone. 21-7 Jets. Jets, however have 4 th qtr meltdown resulting in a field goal and TD by pumped up Silver and Black. Jets still ahead 21-17. Wilkerson gets fumble recovery with 4 minutes remaining. Final score: 21-17, no cover, but Jets on their way to 9 more wins this year.
However since it's the first game I won't put too much stock into it but if we completely flop in week two, we're in trouble.
I'm so amped up for this game. Like others have said.. Oakland is subpar. We should be able to win this one like 23 - 10 or along those lines. No stupid mistakes on offense and we are fine. Hopefully we are 1-0 heading Into Lambeau week 2
I just have a hard time seeing how Oakland is going to even keep this one close, unless the jets turn the ball over 3 times. QB's - Geno vs. Shaub or Carr - Either way I would take Geno any day of the week right now with the way he has looked. RB's - CJ2k + Ivory vs. McFadden + Jones Drew - Closer matchup here but Jets still have the clear advantage. WR's - Not even close. Decker, Kerley, and maybe Nelson are all better then the Raiders #1 who hasn't even been clearly decided on yet. TE's - Raiders our scouring the waiver wire for another. Ours has been set since the draft essentially. OL - They have more depth but our starters are no doubt better. If we stay healthy the Jets have the edge. D-Linemen - No contest. Jets are better. Linebackers - Raiders have Mack and the rest is questionable. Ours are all servicable but no one great. It's a wash. Corners - Raiders are very young with alot of upside. We are having trouble finding anyone. Edge to the Raiders. Safety - Jets all day. We have a veteran prescense and Pryor graded out in the preseason as the best Saftey overall. Raiders are relying on Woodson making the shift. Special Teams - Both Kickers are good. Both Punters are mediocre. Wash here too. That's Jet's advantage 7-1 and 2 even spots. Zero or One turnover for the Jets and they win by atleast 10. If the Raiders start throwing interceptions the game could get really ugly.
Derek Carr is going to have to just throw the ball up and hope his WR's catch it. Who are the Raiders' WR's by the way? I don't know. MJD has given the Jets problems in the past, but I doubt he will on Sunday. The Jets should dominate if they are the team they say they are. Rex gets the team up for Week 1 home games too. I can remember a win vs Brady in 09, loss to the Ravens in 10 but hard fought, win vs. Dallas in 11, Domination vs. the Bills in 12 and surviving the Bucs/Revis in 13. Pretty good track record for Rex on home openers.
