I think a players waiver period starts immediately after he is cut doesn't it? And after the deadline we have to cut someone before we sign someone else but I thought as long as we are at 53 by 4pm we can put in waiver claims any time.
this is true. but since its a 24 hr wait before waiver claims are awarded it doesn't get much attention right now. teams are working on cuts and than after that deadline claims start filing in
Brian Costello @BrianCoz RT @ProFootballTalk: CB Dimitri Patterson's suspension ends early. Jets cut him.
Wow! That is Great! This organization is finally headed in the right direction and really holding players accountable. This is fantastic news!!! Makes this old darksider feel pretty damn good!!
While it's frustrating to see them cut a guy supposedly competing for the starting job, it also employs a no bullshit mentality with players. They aren't showing loyalty to their selections in personnel by holding on to something that's a lost cause. Better to cut ties with it and get rid of the headache now then have it be a locker room problem all season especially for someone who has only spent a summer with the organization.
As worried as I am about our CB situation, can't really argue cutting Patterson. Why waste the full 3M on him. Was a bad signing all the way thru and it's better to correct that now
Patterson cut means $1M dead money and costs $1,687,500 against the cap. Hill too...dead money of $933,582 in 14 and another $466,791 in 15. Cap charges of $351,603 in 14 and $1,032,590 in 15.
Good we dont need bums like Hill and Patterson in the locker room! Good luck a dick's sporting goods!
hill was never a bum, it seemed like he worked really hard actually. just wasn't a good football player
