Gruden sums him up pretty well: Quick release Quick thinker Strong arm Touch Anticipation The pass he threw against us in the Dome, under pressure, guys in is face, backed up to the endzone, perfect bomb to Watkins. Love this kid. _
Yup. I remember seeing an interview with he and Watkins last year and all Watkins kept talking about was his natural leadership qualities, how he was the undisputed leader of that team. _
Boyd is a good pick. And he's going to a good situation as Vick can now help mentor both Geno and Boyd..... The only potential issue I see is if there's bad blood between Geno/Boyd given their history.
boyd is tough as fucking nails. i am going to sit here and say it now. and you can quote me. tajh boyd will be a better pro than geno smith. boyd is tough as nails, just keeps coming, gets knocked down comes right back through minor injuries and everything else. im saying it now, and you can all quote me on it in 3 years right or wrong. i believe tajh boyd will be a better pro than geno smith and will end up as the starter within the next 18 months.
OMG this guy is good!!!! (NYJetsO12 puts himself on Boyd bandwagon). Has a bit of Moxie too, Gruden seems to like him.
Yes, and if you don't think Rex and Idzik don't know this then we are all idiots. So why put two guys who are rivals on one team? Must be to put QBs to a mental and physical uber competion, ha..
The only other issue is Matt Simms..... I like the Kid, but I think this may be his ticket out of town.....
Come on give it a rest, he was drafted in the sixth round because the head coach has a son that went to his school. If the Jets didn't draft him... who knows how far he would have slid. Geno will mop the floor with him as he has done in the past whenever they met up. I am just worried about bringing in this guy because it seems he was Res'x pick and that sucks when the coach picks a quarterback that is not the incumbent QB. All this talk about him being a great leader and a captain for what? Is he going to be the leader of the 3rd string or practice squad? Dude better know his role and not start any locker room division with this "leader" BS. P.S. Love the background story about him and Geno back in WVU, would love some further insight on how he rose to the top at Clemson.
Smith will have every chance to prove he should still be the starting QB. He may have to get past Vick though before he worries about Boyd.
He's going to be brought along slowly which is nice. He'll be the third string QB this year, and I doubt he has a shot to win the QB job this year. But if Geno is a serviceable starter this year, and Vick walks as a FA at the end of the season, Boyd will take over the backup roll. Not only that, if Geno doesn't firmly grab the starting position, Boyd can compete for the starters job next year.
By Rex declaring Boyd serviceable at other positions, he hopefully is defusing a future QB controversy. Otherwise, Ryan is back to running his mouth, which seems to work better than his brain.
