He's just not a good football player. He has speed size etc but isn't in the right place at the right time and for the most part doesn't make plays. But I still wouldn't cut him. I think right now Idzik is on the phone trying to make deals esp for DBS. They will undoubtably trade or pick up someone on waivers today.

I see him more of a track and field guy than a football guy.

Why would any team have traded for Hill?

First thing that came to mind CC, a pair of recent 2nd rd. pick busts.

I'm not sure if there is an NFL team with a worse record of second round picks. While we all revisit Gholston again and again - Ducasse, Hill, Van Dyke etc. rarely get mentioned.

Anyone want to tell me how many 2nd round selections from 1990 onwards were actually better than mediocre?

heard Westhoff on the radio Thurs talking about how he walked out of the draft room fuming after we traded up for Hill.
He said he put together over 100 detailed write ups for guys in the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds. Then Tanny goes out and trades away picks for a guy like Hill. Westhoff said it was clear his input was not going to be heard, so he left. also said it was a contributing reason to his retiring. Tanny put no emphasis on ST at all during his tenure here.

We also know Rex wasn't for the pick. So who exactly convinced Tanny this was the sure fire pick to get, that we needed to trade up?

I would say Tanny himself. The guy was just awful. I doubt he ever gets a GM job again, and if he does, good luck to that team.

@caplannfl: Stephen Hill did pass through waivers unclaimed. Due to the new rules, I believe Hill can be signed to a practice squad.

Would be funny. But Can't see it happening. Their decision to release him (when he was 2nd rounder) means they cut ties with him...and probably won't want to bring him back. In addition...Stephen Hill's agent has all but cursed out the NYJ organization in the past 24 hours.

No way he comes back here, just interesting he still has PS eligibility. If he's on an NFL team this year that's where it will be.
