Missed the game and was going to watch it off the PVR...not sure I will bother now, seems like an embarrassing display all around.

Did you really expect a good game with Simms starting and all the 2's and 3's playing?

    I sure as hell didn't

Sadly I am not surprised. Anyone hoping for a dominate performance from hill has obviously not been watching the kid the past two years. Its times to cut the cord and move on as a team.

Bottom line ....Hills is at least 4th best WR on current roster. Jets have to keep him, until they can do better. Jets also run him on wrong patterns. Jets need to use him as a deep threat. They don't throw enough deep passes to him.

Don't sweat it. We see it every year from someone. You could insert any QB from the Jets past into your comments and someone else said it. I know I was that way with Kellen Clemens. And the whole world seemed to feel that way about Brett Ratliff for a hot minute.

Thing is, Simms was flawless last year. It was something to behold. I watched that final preseason game 5 times to make sure I knew what I was seeing. It wasn't a fluke. I don't know what happened to him. It's disappointing, but you move on. But I reserve the right to trash anyone who called him nothing but a backup if he does actually prove himself somewhere.

I will be a merciless tyrant of I Told You So. And they will wallow in the wastelands of ignorance.

If this is true Idzik failed us at the WR position this off-season.

Could that be a bit of an exaggeration?

I didn't but not really that much of a beat down.

Were there any redeeming qualities for the game? Or just watch highlights instead.

Tell me about it. Where was all that depth I kept hearing about?

    No

There were none unless a bunch of tackles by Jeremiah George counts.

Richardson and to a lesser extent Green were the only players that looked like they belong in the NFL.

    Not many.

Pantelle, or however his name is spelled, looked very good. Could very well take Sudfelds spot on the roster.

Richardson looks great. We have so much depth at running back, it's amazing. It will likely be Johnson, Ivory, Powell, and Richardson. Green fumbled, so he's likely out. The best part of Richardsons game is his acceleration. The guy finds a hole and takes off in the blink of an eye. Gonna be great catching out of the backfield.

Simms looked like horseshit. He was overthrowing, underthrowing, and missing targets left and right. Looked horrible.

Taj Boyd did well. The one TD pass he had would have definitely been a pick had the starting secondary been in for Philly, but other than that, he looked pretty decent against backups.

The offensive line depth is awesome. Looks like all those picks and offseason acquisitions on the line are panning out. Very solid.

Corners looked bad. Not much to expect from the backups. Walls, Patterson, and Wilson didn't play, so I'm not too worried about it.

Salas has a few good catches. Will likely make the cut.

Hill needs to go, yesterday. Another game where he didn't show up. Dropped a pass, but made up for it the next play with a nice slant pass and catch. Didn't demand any attention from opposing defense and the QBs just don't look like they trust him. He'll likely be cut.

Not much else. A whole lot of bad football from both sides really. Not too much fun watching the backups lol

    Like I said, deluding yourself.

I remember that preseason game last year. Not all of the throws and coverages etc. but I remember. He looked really good against scrubs. My takeaway was something like 'jeez I wonder if he's actually better than a guy like McElroy' who had his own versions of that game. Then he got his chances in the regular season and I was excited when he got on the field. I was actually screaming for him at a couple home games in the middle when Geno was hopeless and Rex brought him out to start a 2nd half once finally. Then thud, he did absolutely nothing more for the team than Geno was doing or would've done during those opportunities. And those were the moments when Geno was at his absolute worst psychologically, being asked to be a 2nd round rookie carrying a team in NY was a mountain of pressure that Simms didn't have whatsoever. Simms could do no better I don't give a fuck how bad the team was, that's all Matt's 'career' came down to.

You just ignored that entire aspect which is the only thing that truly mattered last year. He had his chances and he couldn't step up, and you're still sitting here like that one good preseason game means he had as good of a chance to be a true franchise QB as anyone. If he never got in a regular season game it would be one thing, but he got in three and that's where the truth obviously lay. Self delusion and nothing more.

It's not whether I believe it, it's what I can do in life to deal with it.

But that's not the point. The point is that you are inclined to think that one claim is exaggeration just because you have personal reasons to believe otherwise.

Simms acquitted himself beyond reproach last off season, that is a fact. He didn't do this this year. If you have a beef about 2013, provide the evidence.
