Steven Hill better bring his best Randy Moss impression tonight otherwise he's gone. I voted for multiple TDs.

I can see Hill putting up a 3 TD, 190yd 7 catch performance...

... and being traded to Cleveland for a 6th round pick the very next day.

I'll paraphrase Chris Carter who said he has the size & speed but lacks the most important in FB which is the ability to catch the ball in essence he is saying Hill has iron hands

He needs to abuse second and third string defenders IMO. I'm not going to put a number on how many catches he needs to make because that depends on the QB getting him the ball. The coaches will know when they watch the game film if Hill was getting open or not.

With that said he needs to not drop passes that are thrown to him. With Simms playing a good portion of this game Hill will have a chance to see some balls thrown his way no matter what routes he is running. Simms has the arm to make every NFL throw.

If the Jets believe Hill will be a cut right now as things stand I don't think there is much he can do in the game to save himself. He's going to be playing against second-stringers. We already know he can beat backups. What we didn't see so far this pre-season is him beating starting CB's. Given the extended time he had on the field we didn't even see him beating backups much.

The only thing I think would save him, if he is a cut at this point, is if he had a big game and looked really good doing it. Actually looked like he had turned the switch on somehow and figured out how to do the things an NFL receiver has to do.

Not playing special teams really hurts him. If I was the Jets I'd rotate him on KR's in the game and see if he can make that work.

Went with 4-5 catches and a TD. Obviously depends on how much he plays but he should play quite a bit. If he's just okay he might still make it just wouldn't be a starter, he can block pretty well if nothing else.

I'll be fucking pissed if this piece of shit makes the squad over Salas. Hell, Clyde Gates has looked better this camp than Hill.

There's no way they cut Salas. The only way Hill remains is if we carry 7 receivers.

Had my eye on him in the Giants game and wanted to see what he was doing wrong, Man after
the 5 yard bump he is lost, Just cant break free from a 1st string CB. Even as was watching and trying
to keep my eye on him ( Not Drinking ) well not much in the 1st qtr. AND HE JUST GOT LOST. I think
since he was not an Idzik / Rex pick I don't think he makes this team no matter what he does this game. I said
6 catches and 1 TD against the 3rd's and 4th's if he cant do that how can anyone or any other team expect him to
play better against their First stringers. JMO

    1) same team, different guy running the show

    2) we cut gholston as soon as it was economically feasible, due to the cap implications

    3) there was no reason to cut ducasse last year. he was cheap and his backups were worse than he was

1 - Different GM sure...same owner , same head coach. Who obviously have a big say in what goes on with the roster.

2 - Gholston came into 2010 after taking a paycut. Like the Hill situation now , the team was grasping at straws hoping to get anything out of him. They werent gonna cut him the same way they arent going to cut Hill.

3 - Have you seen Ducasse play? He made Wayne Hunter look like a pro bowler. Just being another cheap body isnt good enough most of the time. Especially on an offensive line where guys that dont cost a lot are always moving around from team to team.

he has clearly improved from last year but he's also clearly nowhere bear as good as the top 2 guys. I hope he keeps improving though.

5 catch, 104 yards, 2TD and I would have to consider keeping him. However, the answer is nothing will be enough probably.

I'm missing something here. Just weeks ago, Westhoff said he was their #1 WR in camp. Now he's getting cut? I know he's been a disappointment, but cut?

Hill's done. The not releasing high draft picks argument doesn't work here. It wasn't Idzik's pick. It wasn't even Rex's pick. If anything Idzik will want to dump him in favor of a guy he found like Saunders and Salas.

Rex's statement the other day about Hill though was the most telling thing of all though. "I won't say he has been great, but he has been pretty good." That's Rex speak for "This guy fucking sucks, but I refuse to thrown anyone under the bus.".

The question is who do you keep him over. Not Decker, Nelson, or Kerley. Hakim is the Kick Returner. Saunders is a rookie that should be given atleast a season to develop. Salas has played way better then Hill. Unless the Jets decide to keep 7 WR's, which is pretty heavy at the position, then Hill is finished.

I don't really care about Hill the player, but I hope for the sake of Hill the NY Jets second round pick that he pulls his head out of his ass and plays like a real receiver and not just a track star that can run block.
