we've gone from sanchez playing well in preseason to omgz sanchez superbowl winner soon. yikes ... 9 days ...
My point is that it sometimes takes a while for players to have it 'kick in' in the NFL. And in fairness, sometimes it can't happen with their original team so maybe we HAD to get rid of Mark. I admit to that point, though I was one of his backers. But I would point out that Jim Plunkett never got a fair shot in NE and that in Year 5 Phil Simms got beaten out by Scott Bruenner and lost his job by Bill Parcells (!!). Alex Smith was about to get burned at the stake before Harbaugh came along. Even Jim Kelly needed a few years in the USFL/Buffalo. It's rare to get a Dan Marino who comes in and kicks-butt from Day 1. I agree that Mark was chased out by the fans. I also think that the Jets higher-ups including Woody got rid of him for marketing reasons, i.e., The Butt Fumble. I hope it doesn't bite them in the butt in coming years.
Holy hell, making the claim that they dropped him for marketing reasons. That reminds me of the butt hurt claims we saw from the Tebow lovers after their boy didn't see the field. Fuck that's terrible. They got rid of him because they have a QB that is already at least as good as him - cheaper and with more potential.
they got rid of him b/c the GM had no ties to him and he was coming off serious injury. had we not had a sham competition a year ago Mark starts, we make the playoffs and he's starting for us today. he was an expensive backup coming off a major injury so he was let go.
This is what irks me, im not sure if we make the playoffs last season with Mark, but I KNOW for a fact if he is the QB of this team we are getting to the postseason. Not a single doubt on my mind.
Mark Sanchez's way of saying "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NOT SCHOTTENHEIMER AGAIN!!!!!!" http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000383541/article/mark-sanchez-i-seriously-doubt-ill-be-traded
I just think it's weird that a guy who is a Top 5 ALL-TIME Playoff QB by rating was ditched so quickly. We talk all the time about guys who do it in the regular season and choke when the stakes are higher. What if Sanchez is the opposite...a guy who always puts up mediocre numbers in the regular season but excels in the playoffs and pressure situations ?
The best part of Sanchez being in Philly is that it keeps Junc and his other fan boys in the NFL section instead derailing Jets conversation about their hero. It's kinda like the Tebow ghetto section we had set up here.
we missed by a game or 2. Geno cost us: @NE @Ten Pitt @ Cin @Bal Mia you don't think w/ an obvious much better QB we could have squeezed out another win or 2? at Cincy the entire team sucked and maybe at ten too but in those other games we would have won at least 1 more and I am not sure tiebreakers but another AFC win would have been huge.
An obviously better qb?yes. But we didn't have one. If we did have one we probably would have went a different direction in the draft and conducted training camp differently. Of course thats just speculation so I won't falsely state it as fact like is done on this board so often
I agree that geno was not ready. the powers that be disagree that mark was miles ahead. I won't reply again. I find this topic exhausting and regret getting involved to begin with. Woulda shoulda coulda arguments are mostly pointlessl
