Just saw on twitter that apparently we tried to trade him in the offseason with no success. Too lazy to post the tweet but I'm sure someone else will. Interesting.
Last chance saloon for roster - cut Gates, keep Hill. Cut Hill on the field if he's still a liability halfway through the season. He deserves at least as long as Ducasse, who was possibly a better wide receiver.
Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter 44m Jets tried trading WR Stepehen Hill this summer. No takers. Let's see if final cuts today and Saturday change that equation.
They probably tried giving him away to teams for late 7ths because they absolutely know New England's going to pick him up once he's cut.
Apparently we tried to trade him already and no one bit. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...o-trade-stephen-hill-this-summer-to-no-avail/
It's hard to trade someone that others know you might end up cutting anyway. I would call Cleveland though. Maybe they could send us a corner in return.
Wonder if we'll try and move him before the start of the season. Funny how a lot of us thought the organization still had hope in Hill when they were trying to deal him for a while.
He will be gone by Saturday the latest... Wouldn't be surprised if they cut him today... He is wasting a roster spot at this time..
I don't think they will end cutting him at all, but there's not a chance in hell they cut him today. There's no reason to. The roster is already down to 75 and it doesn't need to get down any further yet. It's in their best interest to keep him on the roster for now. I would try to feature him in this last preseason game - play him a lot and throw it his way as much as possible. Maybe he will show enough that someone desperate for a receiver will want to trade for him.
Yea I guess that would be better... We can at least try and get something from him... If we cut him, he is going to get swooped up by the Patriots and become an All-Pro... Watch.
