Because EVERYONE knew that 2 of our top 4 CBs would get injured and a third would go batshit crazy, right?

No he didn't know but this is starting to become a thing for Idzik. Remember Goodson?

Idzik has been borderline terrible with free agent pick ups his first two seasons. Hopefully players like Decker and CJ2K work out at least. In my opinion, Patterson has to be cut. 1. He is not even that good. 2. Been hurt most of the Preseason. 3. Clearly is a headcase who doesn't care about the team.

Last season we could barely sign anyone because we were in such cap hell. I liked Barnes as a pickup before his injury. Goodson was a cheap high upside player that didnt work out. Its not like he was having legal troubles before. Giacomini as our new RT is a good pickup I think as well.

Borderline terrible? Last year we had very few options because of the cap and the trade for Ivory turned out well, Landry and Colon were solid, and Barnes was good before he got hurt. Players get in trouble, it happens. At least he hasn't dropped significant money on a head case.

Decker and CJ have looked pretty damn good, and both on very nice deals for us. Michael Vick and Breno Giacomini have been exactly what we wanted them to be. You have utterly unreasonable standards if you think two players who we had on short term deals on the cheap not working out is borderline terrible.

They should probably cut him... if a guy's heart isn't into it, that's a big deal in a league where winning and losing are so often close together.

The fact that Idzik after meeting with him was so candid by calling their meeting a "listening session" and questioned his commitment to the team in public like that is telling. They aren't satisfied with his explanation. If it was a serious family matter he wouldn't have said that.

The strange way he was released in Cleveland back in 2012 (directly after signing a long term extension) is pretty telling as well. They signed him to an extension and then the 1st season after that he was out for 7 weeks with an ankle injury and then just when he was ready to play back from injury they cut him in december of the season. I wonder if they questioned his commitment there too - why would you do that otherwise?

All that Patterson has to do now is get arrested, caught with peds or drugs,or get put on IR to secure his spot as an "Idzik Guy" he could also masturbate in a parking lot after the game to,maybe a dogfight or two also would get him there

Guarantee if it was Tanny, Patterson doesn't get suspended for this, in fact he probably gets a contract extension. At least we know Idzik is willing to lay down the law and make an example of him. Apparently he like didn't like Patterson's reason for leaving. It was probably some flakey emotional drama. If so, cut him now and save us the headache. No call / no show = no integrity.

I respectfully disagree. Barnes, Ivory, CJ and Decker have been outstanding choices. Goodson was a risk pick up to play on a limited role, and he failed miserably, but the financial loss was non existent. Patterson I don't have a clue as to where his head or body is at, and with Giacomini the jury is still out.
JI moves particularly in his first year considering the shit he inherited were very well planned.
Oh how quickly we forget the God awful years when we would actually go after players and even trade picks for the likes of ( TE from the Raiders - drawing a blank ) or WRs (McCareins and Mason)

Having said that, I fully expect to see one more back up CB picked up during free agency or may be even a trade.

Real smart, tight ship Johnny and Rex are running in Florham Park.

Rex is a good (defensive) coach but he continually acts like a puerile fool who continues to boast and talk tough but without so much as a division title to his name as a HC. It's no surprise the players don't respect him and he has no clue as to the state of his team:

Goodson, Revis saga(s), Santonio Holmes, 45-3 butt fumble, mid-to-late round picks with zero upside, Dmitri Patterson, state of the CB position, etc.

The Packers are stacked at Wide Receiver and they draft Jeff Janis, a guy with upside and measurables in round 7. Meanwhile, in the same round our brilliant management passes on a guy like that and instead drafts Tajh Boyd, a below marginal passer, because the head coach's son told him if the player had called a meeting at 1 am, every player on the team would have showed up!?

In round 3 Idzik passes on Bruce Ellington and reaches for an injured DB nobody would have touched before round 6 and who they quite possibly could have signed as an UDFA.

As a Jet fan, it's all I can do to take solace in the fact I'm not a Buffalo Bills fan. EJ Manuel is a notch above Blaine Gabbert as far as starting QB material.
