i get what your saying, and agree that player for player trades are less common in the NFL.
generally trades come down to player for draft picks.

circumstance and need do sometimes make those deals happen though, even if less likely.

I'm sure the fall back plan is to vulture the waiver wire after final cuts.
However, Idzik should be doing his due diligence to see if we can find a better solution than recycling a CB (like Lequan Lewis). We have no depth, very questionable starters, and a player MIA.

Rams wouldn't give us anything good, Vick's got a 1 year contract.

Very tempting. I'd take a 2nd rounder for him. Geno will not bomb. He was in a worst situation last year and he stayed afloat. Geno will put up 3500+ yards with 35 TD and rush for over 500 yards. I guaranteed it. Whether that get us to the playoffs is a different story.

That is not entirely true, this is year 3 for Jeff Fisher, I am not saying the owner would fire him but they are due to show some progress. Typically in these situations the GM would make the trade because Shaun Hill is not a realistic option, especially not in the NFC West.

(Basically the GM/Head Coach might be desperate because they could all get fired at the end of the season if they end up with only like 4 wins or so, I think Fisher MIGHT get a pass but you never really know)

However, they made that choice thinking that Bradford would be their starter. Hill is also better mind in Bradford's ear, and less "QB controversy" as opposed to if they had signed Sanchez.

Now with the "Oh shit, Oh shit, we need a 16 game starter" situation, suddenly Mark seems like a much better option than the older Hill.

Basically I don't think the decision from the off-season has any importance here.

I'd trade Vick for the right deal ASAP.

It's like "buying" a 2nd round draft pick

This is NOT a Super Bowl season and Vick is gone after the year, so why in the heck would I say no to getting a better team long term? To make sure we win at least 6 games? No thanks.

If we WERE a Superbowl team then no, I keep the insurance..

Yup and Gates will be receiving 17 of those 35 TDs.

For Stedman Bailey, a 2nd and Kellen Clemens.

Best guess is that they will just go with Clemens or Hill. Schotty has always liked Clemens.

The thought of Sanchez going against the Seahawks, 49ers and Cardinals D twice a year doesn't bode well. He generally collapses against defenses that can hit the QB and consistently get pressure. If he does go to the Rams, it's going to be LONG season for him. I'd rather see him wait in the shadows for the Foles injury.

Clemons ain't in Saint Louie no mo.

Hes backing up Phillip Rivers now. Given how he did decently as a backup and knowing Bradford's injury history I would have prioritized bringing him back, but I guess Hill is good enough… The rams are so screwed.

I agree. While I wouldn't get rid of Vick for nothing, a second round pick would make me pause. I mean honestly, I still think we are 1 year away from being a good team who could make a serious playoff run. Give me a 2nd round, hell I'll even take a 3rd for Vick. You're trading a possible starter for a stop gap guy with no future.

Vick was brought in to mentor Geno Smith. That shouldn't suddenly stop now just because he's not a starter. I think Vick stays. He's got more to teach. Unless they make us an offer we can't refuse I see no reason to trade him. Our future could depend on it.

There is no way the Rams want Vick. Hill has a 61.5% comp career average.
    Vick has 56.2%.

I don't think anyone, anywhere is ever getting more than a 4th for Vick at this point in his career and that would be only to a "super bowl or bust" team. You don't destabilize lynch pin positions for questionable help at another. That's a short sighted Mike Tannenbaum kind of move.
