that and the improvement of an already really good DL. we should be pressuring QBs a lot more which will help mask a mediocre secondary.
The passing defense should rank 14th overall or somewhere around there when its all said and done next season. We finished 22 in the league last year I belive
@RichCimini: Jets have claimed RB Daryl Richardson on waivers, per @FieldYates. #nyj Interesting pick up
I'm very interested in the health and recovery of Antwan Barnes. We all know help can be used at his position.
81 man roster after first cuts. Down to 75 next. @DWAZ73: #Jets cut 7 players, including P Schum, LB Divitto, OL BCampbell (from @AP) http://t.co/G8NOcxxcX5
@SethWalderNYDN: Jets release WR Jacoby Ford, WR Michael Campbell, TE Colin Anders, FB Chad Young, DE Anthony Grady and CB Ras-I Dowling. #nyj Down to 75. Surprised to see Ford cut already
Had a feeling Ford's release was coming, just not this soon. He had a terrible outing against the Giants. Didn't show much as a returner, and didn't contribute as a gunner. Conversely, Hakim looked explosive, has been improving as a Gunner, and was in as a Jammer on punt returns. He has a good chance to make the team on ST's, while still developing as a WR.
Ford looked like a low risk / high upside signing if he could regain his former level of play. Disappointed it didn't work out but oh well
Don't we have enough "high upside" receivers in Hill? Of course I would have liked to see Ford succeed as well, but there's a lot of receivers on this team, and the one's who play the best deserve the spots. I am weary of holding spots open for "upside" guys anymore.
The thing I love about these early cuts, is that it may give the team more unity. All the guys who just survived these cuts must be thinking that the team really wants them, and has confidence in them, since we already made our decisions.
If Saunders can get healthy and puts whatever that situation was behind him I'd rather him handle both punt and kickoff returns than give the dream a roster spot.
