    Bunch of no names..

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets reduced their roster to 81 with seven cuts Saturday night.

Released were tackle Bruce Campbell of Maryland, linebacker Steele Divitto of Boston College, offensive linemen Patrick Ford of Eastern Kentucky and Markus Zusevics of Iowa, placekicker Andrew Furney of Washington State, punter Jacob Schum of Buffalo, and running back Michael Smith of Utah State.

Campbell has played in 19 games over four NFL seasons, while Smith has appeared in one game in his two pro seasons.

The Jets must get to 75 players by Tuesday.

biggest news is that quigely wins the punter battle… not sure how I feel about that, the jets need to search the waiver wires for some better options over the next few weeks.

I realize that punter is valued really low in the NFL. But as a team that leans on the defense, why the heck don't we have a better one? Poor punting makes it harder on a defense and you will lose the battle of field position.

Quigley isn't necessarily safe. If he fails to perform better he can get cut still. I remember Malone won the battle over Quigley but then blew it one week and we swapped them.

Punter is such a plug and play position, he has little security.

Was he really any worse than Jalen Saunders?

I think it's just that he's older, with an injury history, and not the only speedy return guy we could use.

Idzik invested a pick in Saunders, so he probably wants to see some development and what Saunders can become.

We know what Ford is. How big of an impact would Ford really make this year?

Saunders will be the PR, and if KR is a matter of emphasis either Hakim or Gates will play that position now that Ford is cut. Ford and Saunders have nothing to do with each other.

Best news I've heard on the wide receiver front in the while. Let's get some reps for the WR rookies

    http://www.playerline.com/#nfl/player/saalim-hakim

Just confirms what we were thinking.

Coach Rex Ryan named Saalim Hakim the Jets' kickoff primary returner.
Rookie Jalen Saunders will presumably return punts. A Tarleton State alum, Hakim clocked forty times in the 4.2s at his 2012 Pro Day. 24 years old, Saalim is the younger brother of former Rams star Az-Zahir Hakim.

That sounds right. 6 WR on the roster..even 7 isn't too crazy.

Why did we ever get rid of Robert Malone? Quigley should just go back down under.

Because he shanked too many punts that went 15 yards.

But yet i kind of agree. He was inconsistent, but those occasional 60 yarders were a thing of beauty.
