I thought Demaryius Thomas was pretty good even when Tebow was throwing to him to be honest. Statistically it doesn't show, but Thomas was a play-maker even when Tebow was there. Decker was productive too. Peyton def played a HUGE role, but I think those guys were football players that wanted to perfect their craft also. Stephen Hill to me, never showed improvement in 3 yrs. Maybe I'm over doing it. Stephen Hill to me isn't a football player he's an athlete.
Before we completely write off Hill let 2014 play out first. My prediction for Hill is that he'll be a productive receiver this year. I stand by that. I'm not saying he's going to be Moss. But he's going to be solid. MM will find creative ways to utilize him.
"He's a fast player that doesn't play fast." - Cris Carter on Stephen Hill. Stephen Hill is a child living inside the body of a huge target. It's such a shame.
Posted this in another thread ---> This is Hill's last shot, Put up the numbers, Dont get lost in the game. Or we wish you the BEST of luck on your new team. Period
I'm just about done with him. I've been one of his biggest defenders. I think his route running has drastically improved..but the catching issue is just way out of hand. He's incredibly inconsistent
When Kurt's done with a player, you can finally confirm the guy freaking sucks. Stephen Hill is an athlete not a football player.
You have to keep your best players and Hill is not among the Jets 6 best WR's at this point. He doesn't play special teams. That makes keeping him a wish and a prayer instead of a good personnel decision. Could he go somewhere else and suddenly find himself? Not likely but possible I guess. Even then he wasn't that player for the Jets after three training camps and keeping him as dead weight on the roster because of his potential would be like keeping Vernon Gholston through 3 camps because of his potential. Eric Decker Jeremy Kerley David Nelson Greg Salas Two of Ford, Saunders and Gates who all have special teams utility and are also better WR's than Hill at this point. That's the Jets best 6. If the Jets really want to keep a 7th developmental WR on the roster this year that should probably be Enunwa.
I'm over the Hill. When he couldn't even use his frame on a slant pattern to prevent a DB breakup, I don't know what to say. He doesn't set up the DB by running hard "at" him to make him respect the seam pattern. Instead he lollygagged and 'drifted' into the slant area allowing the Db to practically ride his back and allow him to break up the pass. Hill with his speed thread should be setting him up not to mention using his size to 'ride/shield' the defender off his hip. His 'cuts' absolutely suck.
I'm glad to see others on here are finally seeing what I've been seeing in this guy since his rookie season. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, Stephen.
After last night I no longer have stock in Hill. He has the physique to be a good WR, but that's all he has. Dude's a bust.
Who the hell ever HAD stock in this clown? With dudes like this and Wilson you are basically hit over the head with a sign that says "bust" from day one. I love how people now are saying "I've given up on him".....the correct answer is "I'm sorry, I had no clue what I was talking about and you were right".
You can see it and hope he still manages to get it together and become a good player for the Jets. It also never made sense to let him go in the past, while this might be the first offseason it actually would work out okay to let him go because of the perceived depth at the WR position.
