On the Jets quality backup RB means something because we're going to run the ball much more often than most teams do. Powell is replaceable because he's not a star caliber player but it would be easy to replace him with somebody significantly worse. About 99% of the guys who get cut this summer will be in that significantly worse category.

Just because you're not flashy and don't put up big numbers doesn't mean you're not very good at your job. Powell has 32 games played and 13 games started in his career, good for 1,155 yards at 3.9 yards a carry and 54 receptions. Most players couldn't do that if given the shot to play in the NFL.

thats what I'm thinking, a good RB isn't as easy to come by as it seems, let alone one with a good demeanor and history with our franchise.

something like a 2 year 5-6 million dollar deal won't kill us, having a RB on contract in 2016 will have its own rewards.

I agree that it definitely means something but it depends on what expense. We have 2 RB's on the current roster who i'd take over Powell, granted one might not be in a year and the outlook could be different but I would not be looking to pay a third.

I don't have a problem with Powell, he's a quality player. You don't need to be flashy to be successful but I just don't see the value in paying a guy like him $2-$3 million per year as was suggested. I just don't think he's worth that much money.

The only RB that stood out today...He should have been out there more in the back carrying the ball instead of Chris Johnson who was just ineffective today. Powell was bursting and it was damn pity he didnt play much

Powell always makes the most of his opportunities.

I hope he gets more touches in the future.

Powell should've got more carries than CJ. Marty is a genius, lmao.
