Because there has been some implacable sentiment that not every ex-Jet QB is being appropriately represented, let's have a Kellen Clemens thread. Tonite 14-21 for 149 yards, 2TDs, 0 INTs. Last week 5-5 for 134 yards, 1 TD 0 INTs. Is this an appropriate thread in the NFL Forum? _
I understand the interest in previous Jets quarterbacks but really? This is preseason. Who gives a shit what Mark Sanchez and Kellen Clemons do against second and third string players?
Just ban him, I havent said a word since I got back, yet he was again try to instigate stuff again last night. He needs to go, its for the better.
Kellen Clemens. I was rooting for him. Never given a real shot at the competition in 2009. Even came in and cruised with the Jets for a victory over TB. Key victory, without it we don't make the playoffs in 2009. In 2007, we would have upset the undefeated Pats at the time if they properly called NE for roughing the passer on Clemens' pick 6. He got hurt though and the points counted. Second, if Justin McCareins could catch a football, we would have sent that BAL game to OT and probably snuck out with a W because Nugent was having fun kick late FG that year. He also wasn't terrible in STL last year. Very conservative throwing the ball, short passes, but Bradford also threw like that leading me to believe that was the offensive scheme or limitations imposed on the offense. Solid backup these days. Wouldn't mind him on the team. Never had a problem with him, led some fun upsets/comebacks.
I thought you didn't take this forum seriously? Why not just have the fun you said you were having here?
he did nothing that eat in tb against a terrible bucs team. If mccareins holds on they beat bal teM that gave Miami their only win that season but Kellen was awful for three qtrs. He's a nice guy who is nothing more than a backup at best. He never showed he could start, the comedy on this board in 2007 about him being better than Chad was a other low point for the board and our fanbase. I wish him well, I hope he has long career as a backup but he got a shot here, he wasn't good enough
He got thrown into a disintegrating season with a turnstile at LG. I think it's pretty clear that Clemens is not an NFL starting QB but he didn't really get a chance to grow into one early on. He was running a safety first sequence offense designed for a highly efficient QB with a weak arm. That's not a great growth medium for a young QB to develop his skills. The Jets kept falling behind that year and then opening it up in an offense that didn't really have a 3rd gear to go too.
