Can't keep a guy around based on the past,I like Rex but if we shit the bed this year its gonna be hard to justify keeping him
No one should want Ryan fired going into the season, it is the same thing as wanting the Jets to suck. If however, we struggle again, firing Rex becomes a valid argument especially if we struggle because of the same reasons as the last three years.
I still til this day wish we pulled the trigger for peyton manning. it woulda been perfect, and we woulda been a contender without a doubt...Both Manning's in NY, Peyton woulda basically been our OC...turning Hill into a stud and Kerley into the next welker... but instead we resigned **** ******* and then traded for Tim Tebow... way to go Tanny, Rex, n Woody.
Peyton Manning didn't want to play for the Jets, it wasn't within our power to get him. He felt that Denver gave him the highest chance of winning as many Super Bowls as he could with the remaining years of his playing career, and I doubt that a few extra million dollars could have swayed him to take his third or fourth choice or wherever we were on his list.
Huge RR supporter but if we aren't in the hunt this yr it's hard to justify keeping him around. Really wish we could've got this guy an offence sooner, we'll see about 2014.
This. I love Rex but we're not Pittsburgh or Tennessee where we keep good coaches throughout their down years. Hope that Rex is coach of the NYJ for 10+ more years (which means we're probably going to be doing alright).
Maybe that is why we are constantly in upheaval, changing personnel and systems as we chop and change our head coach. I for one am down with continuity at this stage. With Rex we will always have a decent to very good defence even when he does not have all the personnel he needs. I think MM will get this offence to a decent level too. We need to stick with out coaches. Get the Cap back in our favour, build through the draft as we are trying to do and then have some patience as it comes together.
Can't hold onto the past forever. Those 2 AFCCG appearances may as well been 20 yrs ago. The NFL is a "what have you done for me this year" league more than any of the other major sports. Rex should be gone after this season if they don't make the playoffs. As I've said before you've had head coaches who have won Super Bowls who have been canned after not making the playoffs for less than 4 seasons so there's absolutely no reason Ryan should be any different. If they don't make the playoffs, have a losing record and Ryan is still the coach, then it tells you all you need to know about Woody Johnson. He should sell the team at that point because he's clearly not about building a winning franchise.
