I think this is fair...however..While the secondary has been below average at best we've also faced good passing attacks & have yet to see the back end at full strength w/ the full array of Rex's scheme.We were literally down 5 corners last week facing a QB who is notorious for chopping up the Jets w/ quick passing. What expectations were realistic heading into that one when considering all the schemes were vanilla? We should at least wait until we see the finished product week 1. We have yet to see Milliner & Pryor on the field at the same time. We also have yet to see the safety tandem of Pryor/Allen. Hopefully somebody steps up & holds the fort at #2 CB. Once the DL starts going full tilt the pass defense could surprisingly enough e a strength rather than a weakness.

Good stats and I hear you MD but that too was a bend and not break defense that gave up a bunch of late points..and again..Im not knocking the coaching as much as I am the talent. That was the line with Devito right? The defensive line that was great against the run because the line of scrimmage is where those dline guys hung out with no pressure. Not being sarcastic but it had no ability to get the qb. It was back in the day when Rex would send 7 to 9 guys on every passing situation. Again..not trying to be sarcastic but Rex has not had the talent to be a shutdown defense and his mind has done a great job. This is, by far, the best front 7 he has had here...and hopefully they can cover up for the secondary.
but all indications are that there is no way Milliner will play in game 1...and this team could probably survive that game before it gets real ugly with the qbs we will face the next 4 or 5 games. and the bold part...you could be dead on KTJF...dead on. We have shown no pressure at all in the preseason...Wilkerson and Richardson have been invisible pretty much...and for all the right reasons. Im dying to see if they go all out with schemes and packages and after watching the Giant offensive line, this would be a great week to show it off...something tells me Eli will be running for the hills Friday night.
I agree with you that the talent was not phenomenal. However, to say the '09 Jets D was not a shutdown defense has to be the silliest thing I have ever heard. I believe that the '09 Jets were in the conversation for an All-Decade Defense right there. I also make an argument that the '09 Jets D had to be one of the best passing defenses of the era considering all the rule changes. They allowed 153.6 passing yards per game. Just think about that for a second. Let me put it this way, the 2012 Jets passing attack was one of the most anemic passing attacks I have ever seen. They averaged 180.6 passing yards per game. The 2012 Mark Sanchez lead Jets passing attack was 17.6% MORE efficient than what the opponents of the '09 Jets put up.
