Yeah, I am reluctant to make these pre-season predictions at least until three pre-season games have occurred, and this year I'm even more reluctant. Second year Qb who sucked last year. Unsettled secondary. On the other hand there's Decker, Johnson, and presumably a more settled offensive scheme. There's the rookies, and you don't know what they are going to really do, but that's a problem for everyone. Having said that I am pessimistic unless Milliner comes back strong and somehow they come up with a decent starter at #2 cb.
You will love this stat: When they have lost their opening game under Rex Ryan, they have always made the playoffs.
The travel between New York & New England is so quick. I'm sure the scheduling committee is viewing this as a positive when arranging the games between Pats/Jets on short notice.
Haha yeah. That happened only one season (2010). I don't know the numbers, but I've read that nfl teams that start 0-2 have a much less likely chance of making the playoffs. If we lose at home against the raiders I don't know how we go on the road against the packers and beat them in their home opener. Edit: http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/fifthdown/2012/09/18/n-f-l-blueprints-for-getting-out-of-0-2-holes/ Article is from 2012, but since 1990 only 12 percent teams that start 0-2 make the postseason.
For another misleading stat: The Jets have never lost a regular season opener under Rex Ryan except when the sum of the individual digits of the year equals 4.
I like how Rex game plans vs teams with high powered offenses n good QB's. we can beat GB, Chicago, Oak, NE, & SD. not saying were going to beat them all... but lets be real, our D-line changes games vs teams like that all the time... ask Mr. Brees. I can see us 3-4 or 4-3...either way thats good for us. i see us only taking 2-3 L's after the bye
That game against Brees and the Saints they were able to get good pressure while running the cover 2. Looks like they may need to go with that a bunch this year until the DB's get settled in depending on who they are going to be. Hopefully Milliner comes back quickly and is able to do a decent job on one side to allow them to get away from having both safeties deep.
SOS is hard to figure out cuz of the parity in this league but shit on paper it looks like rough sledding
