http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ional-guard-michael-brown-jay-nixon/14219621/ What in the hell is going on?
6'4" 300 LB 18 year old who had just committed a strong arm robbery at a convenience/liquor store had a confrontation with a police officer 30 minutes later and ended up dead. The community was protesting and some rioting based on claims that he was running away or had his hands up to surrender. Bullet wounds show he was facing the officer and the officer did have bruising from a punch to the face from the onset of the confrontation. The divide is whether the officer was righteous in shooting the individual. I was surprised this is just showing up now, I have been following it for days and expected someone would have already started a thread on it days ago.
I was also kind of surprised it took so long to show up. Definitely a weird situation with drastically different versions of the events. Hard to know which is actually true but based on some of the reports of what the police have been doing with media attention focused on them I wouldn't be surprised if they were doing some pretty bad stuff without the media attention. As in all things: the truth probably falls somewhere in the middle. Was he some innocent kid that was executed by a racist police offer with no provocation whatsoever? Probably not. Did the kid attack a police officer in his car and the officer was simply acting in self defence? Not sure I buy that either.
While the video of the store robbery, really has nothing to do with the case; it does show the kids character. An 18 year old kid, he was a kid; kids do things that kids do. He was a big kid. I'm sure there probably was a confrontation with the police officer, maybe even physical too; although witnesses say there was not. 6 bullet wounds, either way, seems excessive. One, probably should have been sufficient or perhaps a taser.
Yeah the truth is in the middle. But it cracks me up every time there is a big media-driven race-baiting uproar over "another black kid being shot" and then you find out the kid was being a shithead and acted in a manner that you just don't if you don't want to be shot dead. Not that I'm defending the police because I've found they're usually shitheads too. These police clearly went full retard after the fact with the way they tear gassed the media and all that. Edit: apparently one of the autopsies has been released and backs up the fact that he wasn't struggling with police and may have been shot with his hands up. If that is the case then what I wrote above doesn't apply
Yeah robbery had nothing to do with the kid being shot 6 times by a police officer - with 2 of those shots going right to the head. Things will continue to get worse until justice is provided, there are riots going on down there, and police with high caliber weapons. A lot of bullshit stories going around as well so it's hard to know. This kid was brutally murdered, doesn't matter what race, how big he was none of that matters. That's the issue here.
The robbery has everything to do with this. The officer was aware a strong arm robbery had been committed, that is a robbery where physical force is used, when he first approached Brown and the other individual he did not immediately realize he was the suspect but when he saw the Swisher Sweets he then realized it. Knowing this individual was just involved in a strong armed robbery the officer is going to take every precaution knowing the individual had no problem using force during the commission of a crime. Still not enough info to determine fault or if the officer committed a crime but you can't act as if the other incident does not exist and was a factor.
Who are you Sherlock Holmes? Stop making assumptions it was already confirmed the robbery had nothing to do with the killing. Even so, 2 shots to the head is fucking bullshit. The kid wasn't even using physical force on the police officer. http://www.newsweek.com/police-name-officer-who-shot-mike-brown-darren-wilson-264788 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/15/tom-jackson-michael-brown_n_5682762.html Do you have proof otherwise of what you are saying?
LOL, you getting so bent so quickly tells me you read 2 or 3 articles from one viewpoint and already made up your mind. If an officer is approaching a subject he knows was involved in a strong arm robbery less than 30 minutes earlier it is absolutely, without a doubt going to influence the confrontation with the individual. If the individual also punches the officer in the face, takes off running but then turns around and starts back towards the officer then that officer is absolutely within his rights to use deadly force.
From what I read, the officer had no idea about the robbery..? What was the cadence of the robbery to Brown and Wilson confrontation? The robbery looked bad. It looked like a man, not a kid. It looked like a man who had no regard for other people, a dangerous man. But it was just a kid, making a stupid decision like many kids do; white or black.
Releasing that video has become a massive distraction. Congrats to the dick heads behind the release. The kid was murdered by an officer and somehow thanks to this video idiots all over are saying he deserved to die. They did the same with T.Martin and the choke hold victim. Bring up some shit that ruins their character to somehow say they deserved the fate they received. The media, a lot of cops, are disgusting and also insecure white men are the worst. It's like even in 2014 black people are still seen as the ultimate threat and are still seen as just animals. Best believe if that was some white blue eyed boy that cop would of used less force to resolve the issue and the white boy would of been seen has just some distraught little poor teenager. But a big black boogie man; oh noez, must fire weapon at his head from a distance. Please forgive me but this sh it keeps happening time and time again. I know I'm not the only one seeing this ( well maybe on this forum,yes)/
I've been reading up on this since it transpired almost a week ago. You and your dumb speculation proves nothing here, nor does it shed any more light onto the situation. The shooting had nothing to do with the robbery. Did the individual punch the cop in the face? No. So I ask, what in God's name are you talking about? And I am bent up about the situation because it's extremely fucked up to shoot a kid in the head twice. Go post your opinion on twitter or something.
The officer did not originally stop him because of the robbery, just because they were walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic, after stopping them he then noticed the box of cigars from the robbery. 6'4" 300lbs whether kid or man is a large human being, when they release the information about any damage to the officer from when he claimed Brown pushed him back in the car, punched him and attempted to take his weapon then we will have more to go on. There was one shot supposedly discharged in the patrol car so if they find gun powder residue on Browns clothes this will also tell us a lot.
Nah you aren't. Fact of the matter is robbery occurs with a weapon. Different from shoplifting. Neither is punishable by death. So why the gun shots? Was the police officer intimated by a man w/out a weapon that had his hands up? Did the officer have an intent to kill the kid? I'm not going to get too much into it because it's only going to cause some racial debate on this board - it wouldn't end well.
Sorry but who forced Michael Brown to rob that store? Who forced him to grab the store owner and throw him into a rack? Let's get the entire story before calling this murder. If he actually punched the officer and attempted to get his weapon will that change your view?
What does robbing a store have to do with killing a kid by shooting him twice in the head? I heard the Chief of Police gave a press release last night Mike Brown was NOT the suspect in the store video.
