He was the best Jet on the field last night. I give it a day or so before Rex tells the world that this guy is the best safety of all time and will be a first ballot HOFer

Was Pryor a better pick than Dennard? is the only question I'll be wondering all season. I hope he is and The Louisville Slugger looked nasty last night.. that said we'll see how Darqueze Dennard's career turns out I think he would've filled a bigger need with as much value.

Both Pryor and Cooks will be fine players in this league, and both are in ideal situations.
was nice to finally see Pryor in action last night..

Exactly what i expected from Pryor. Every night i watch his college highlight tape he wreaks havoc in all aspects of the game. Rex gave him the okay to do his own thing on the field just lay people out soon as he drafted him. Gonna be a STUDDDDD

This is what I meant by my thread guys. It wasn't what Pryor DID last night, but how much he did. He was ALL OVER as a box safety. In coverage, on blitz assignments, stuffing the run. He was so utilized as a safety and so incredibly involved in the game.

Now look at the leading receiver, Greg Salas. Good guy, but besides that long catch, I can't really remember how much impact he had on plays. The position of safety is so much more involved than WR in these games. Even if Pryor stunk last night, he would still have been highlighted as the guy who did awful because we would have seen him play bad all over the field since he would have been involved in the play. (sorta like how we noticed Kyle Wilson's sucky ass plays)

You don't always hear about when a guy (who doesn't get the ball thrown to) runs a bad route...or when the guy runs a good route but doesn't get thrown to. The WR position involves so many factors before you actually have the ball in your hands. There are 4-5 receivers on the field (3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 HB), on a reception, ONLY ONE guy gets the ball.

There are 2 safeties on the field, both are involved heavily on the outcome of the play.

I can't really recall anything, but I was more focused on our offense than Cincy's D.
When I watch again, i'll keep an eye out.

Pryor looked great. Involved in numerous plays and had a few big hits.

Just saw that out of all the 1st and 2nd round picks, Pryor has the highest PFF rating with Clowney and someone else below him. Preseason, I know, but that's a pretty number to see.

I dont have access to PFF, but I understand the basic scoring system. How close are we talking here? Pryor at +15.5 and everyone else at +3? How big of a gap are we talking about here?

I just went there to take a look. He is the highest rated safety in the preseason. The article I read had him at a 6.9 with the next closes guy in the 4 range. He caused alot of hurries during his blitzes apparently. Its a promising start that for sure.

So far Pryor looks awesome. He's played a very complete style of football as well as he hasn't really looked weak in any area. He's played the run well, has been pretty good in coverage, and when he's asked to blitz he's been effective.

It's early, but I think we got a good player at the safety position.

Funny you should mention Richardson, since you were calling him "Dewayne Robertson 2.0" this time last season.

I think the fact that the Jets didn't draft Brandin Cooks is beside the point. They needed a safety and the Jets took one.
The problem is that they also needed a starting CB and the one they drafted broke.

I saw a screenshot of the jets PFF preseason grades. The screenshot has been taken down but I noted our top 5 players ranked:

    Pryor
    Walls
    Mangold
    Ellis
    Coples/Davis

Of course take these grades with a grain of salt since PFF isn't perfect and it is just preseason, but I'm very excited about Pryor.

Pryor was no doubt the right pick for the Jets. I don't even want to think about how our secondary would look right now if we didn't have Pryor either.

Cook was also no doubt the right pick for the Saints too, and is a big reason why many are picking the Saints to win the Super Bowl this year. Brees has had some pretty solid receivers on the Saints over the years but never a guy like Cooks who is a true burner. On a team like the Jets though Cooks. The Jets look to be pretty set right now at WR anyways. Decker, Kerley, Nelson and Salas is a pretty solid core considering that our TE's are going to be a threat this year too.
